Odd. Awesome. Punk. And oh-so-quotable. This entry on the 101 Sci-Fi Movies list was my first introduction to the punk when I was growing up. I remember watching this one with my friend Sean, his family always seemed to be more willing to rent the odd, kind of fringe movies that my parents would never…

Continuum S02E06 – Second Truths
As I went into watching this episode, there came the announcement that Season 3 is a go. That’s a great thing, BUT, it also tells us Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) does not get back to the future by season’s end, we also know that she’s around for the next season, so hopefully we at…
Defiance S01E07 – Goodbye Blue Sky
Lots of trouble rolling through Defiance this week as Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas) gets wrapped up in a bit of an adventure all while the land is besieged by razor rain (pieces of Votan ships coming down and slicing things up – messy). Irisa races into the Badlands after she has a vision of Sukar…
Brug’s Army: Mingle For A Mission
$21,000!! That’s how much Amanda Brugel’s Brug’s Army raised for their first ever charity event. The monies will go to the Blooview Children’s Hospital, which is just brilliant. But just as important for the fans who gave their money, they had a wonderful evening chatting and laughing with some of Canada’s best and brightest. Sue,…
Burlington Toy Con – June 2, 2013
Sue and I had a fantastic time when we to the one in March, it was amazing and we found so many things that brought back memories, that then and there Sue and I swore to attend as many of them as we can. This past weekend, we headed to Burlington again, bringing two friends…
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) – Joseph Sargent
This entry on the 101 Action Movies list is based on the novel by John Godey and is hugely entertaining. The way everyone talks to each other is just so ‘New York.’ There is that irreverent tone to their voices, even when dealing with the film’s baddies, that made me laugh, smile and enjoy…
Orphan Black S01E10 – Endless Forms Most Beautiful
Wow. SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And just like that the first season of Orphan Black has come to a close, and 2 of the clones have made a deal with the devil, I mean Leekie (Matt Frewer). There are hints about secrets and revelations aplenty in this episode, but only a couple are completely revealed by episode’s end,…
The Lesser Blessed (2012) – Anita Doron
There was a moment in Anita Doron’s desolate, poignant and starkly beautiful adaptation of Richard Van Camp’s novel when Joel Evans character of Larry Sole crystallized not only as a real person for me, but as a lens to view my own youth (admittedly nowhere near as troubling, but there were pieces of my own…
Foxy Brown (1974) – Jack Hill
The iconic and lovely Pam Grier stars in this blaxploitation film that makes a very welcome appearance on the 101 Action Movies list. Grier is sexy, kicks ass, and sets the stage for future action heroines as the titular Foxy Brown. When her boyfriend, the original Battlestar Galactica’s Colonel Tigh – Terry Carter, a narcotics…
Enter The Dragon (1973) – Robert Clouse
Bruce Lee brings an effortless grace and charm to this entry on the 101 Action Movies list. It had been awhile since I’d last watched it, so I quite enjoyed the chance to revisit this one. Lee plays, well, Lee. An exceptional martial artist at a Shaolin temple to go undercover in a tournament on…
