In the spate of new shows that began this fall, two in particular caught my eye, simply because they both seemed to revolve around the world of fairytales. Having just written my very first of the genre, I was mildly interested to see what sort of new things would be brought to the old standbys…

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy – Review
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is an old school, cold-war spy thriller. And sadly, I think it’s not going to find as much of an audience as I would like it to here in North America. There’s not enough flash to hold the attention of the younger movie watchers who make up the large percentage of…
Prometheus Poster
Yes, I know, I know, I just did a post about how the art of the movie poster is dying, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some cool posters out there. Course, added to the fact that I really am getting amped for this movie maybe that’s why I think it looks cool… But I…
The Expendables 2
I’ll admit to having a week spot for big, loud action movies, but they can’t be completely plotless, or moronic, of which there is more than a fair share. Not to mention the big blockbuster rehashes that seem to be standard fare now. Sigh. But every now and then a mindless action movie comes along…
BBC’s Apparitions
I love it when I come across a show that I hav never heard of before, and it completely catches me off guard in how much I enjoy it. Admittedly that happens more with British television than North American television, because whether I’ve seen them or not, I’ve at least heard of most of the…
A Haven Christmas
“You think it’s Christmas too? It’s July.” “Yeah…?” Haven is my kind of Christmas episode. Anyone who knows me, or listened to our short podcast the other week, knows I’m not a huge fan of Christmas movies or shows in general, though Doctor Who, Charlie Brown, and the Muppets all tend to get passes, and…

Ridley Scott’s Returns To Sci-Fi
Yes, I watched the leaked trailer for Prometheus. It’s Ridley Scott! It’s Alien (kind of – from what I hear, though I am trying to keep my spoiler intake on this one to a bare minimum)! Like other sci-fi fans, I am looking forward to Ridley Scott’s return to the genre, he made two films…
Flashpoint 4×17 – with Mary Krohnert!
This week’s episode of Flashpoint S04Ep17(available for Canadian viewing at CTV.ca) entitled “Priority of Life” featured one of our fave actors (and a great interview at that!) Mary Krohnert. What did I not like about the episode… not enough Mary! What I do like about the series as a whole though is that things…
Lost Girl – Thoughts and Questions…
A word of caution… for all those fans who aren’t in Canada, and are watching the show as it airs, there’s lots of season 2 info below which could be considered SPOILERS so be wary… So here we are at pretty much the halfway mark of the second season, which is a joyous thought in…
