Star Trek: The Next Generation (1993) – Timescape, and Descent
Captain’s log: stardate 46944.2 Directed by Leonard Nimoy’s son, Adam, this episode was penned by Brannon Braga and first aired on 14 June, 1993. I’m always a fan of episodes that play with time loops, time travel, paradoxes and such, and this one ends up being very enjoyable. Travelling back to the Enterprise, Picard (Patrick…

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1992) – The Outcast, and Cause and Effect
Captain’s log: stardate 45614.6 I love that The Next Generation did this episode. I just wish it had been better written. Penned by Jeri Taylor, this episode debuted on 16 March, 1992. Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) finds himself involved with an androgynous life form, Soren (Melinda Culea), during their visit to the planet J’Nai. The…

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1991) – The Host, and The Mind’s Eye
Captain’s log: stardate 44821.1 Airing on 13 May, 1991, The Host is another episode that doesn’t do justice to Doctor Crusher (Gates McFadden). This is yet another episode that centres around her character that is just a little too shabby. Written by Michel Horvat, the episode follows Crusher as she has a relationship with Ambassador…
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1991) – Night Terrors, and Identity Crisis
Captain’s log: stardate 44631.2 Airing on 18 March, 1991 and penned by Pamela Douglas and Jeri Taylor from a story by Shari Goodhartz, Night Terrors is the kind of episode that would have freaked me out as a kid. I did not handle scary/spooky stories well when I was a child. The Enterprise has tracked…
Star Trek: Chain of Attack (1987) – Gene DeWeese
Don’t be fooled by the depiction of the Enterprise on the cover, this story is set just after the Original Series, so very definitely still within the setting of the Five Year Mission. It also does something that would later be revisited as a television series, as a Federation starship (in this case the U.S.S….
