Claudia Gray who wowed me with her young adult Star Wars novel, Lost Stars, returns to that galaxy, far, far away, this time centering on a story about Princess Leia Organa. Set twenty years after the destruction of the second Death Star at the Battle of Endor, and ten years before the events of…

Banshee: Season 3
I hadn’t even heard of the Cinemax/HBO series Banshee before HBO sent me season 3. Suffice to say, when I was halfway through the series, I ordered the previous two seasons on Blu-Ray. The series is a pulp novel brought to life, it’s lurid, colorful, violent, sexy (it’s a ridiculously good looking cast), and…

It’s time to check in with Alice (Milla Jovovich) as I continue my journey through the Resident Evil film franchise for the Sci-Fi Chronicles book. Picking up pretty much where the first one left off, this time Alice dives into the above ground horrors unleashed by Umbrella’s T-Virus as she tries to get out…

Field of Dreams (1989) – Phil Alden Robinson
The next recommendation from the Great Movies – 100 Years of Film book for my screening of Raging Bull is this beautiful and highly enjoyable film from Phil Alden Robinson who wrote and directed the film based on the book Shoeless Joe Jackson by W. P. Kinsella. Kevin Costner plays Ray Kinsella, an Iowa…
