Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (2019) – Blu-Ray Review
Warner Brothers brings home the latest Pokemon title, Detective Pikachu today on blu-ray and DVD, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not the biggest Pokemon fan, so it was Ryan Reynolds that got me to sit down and watch this one, and that may be the draw for a lot of…
The Curse of La Llorona (2019) – Blu-Ray Review
While Warner Brothers may have some issues with its DC Extended Universe, it’s horror films set in The Conjuring Universe continue to do their job, deliver some solid scares (and some mediocre ones) and usually attracts solid casts. The Curse of La Llorona is the sixth film in the shared universe, connected, in this case,…
Death Becomes Her (1992) – Robert Zemeckis
The next ‘zombie’ title to be featured in DK Canada’s Monsters in the Movies is the Robert Zemeckis big budget effects spectacular, so amazing in fact that the scored the film an Academy Award. 21 Grams (2003) – Alejandro G. Inarritu
The next title on the What Else to Watch list in DK Canada’s The Movie Book, following my screening of The Sweet Hereafter is 21 Grams, which has a strong emotional punch to its unique storytelling narrative. Filled with flash forwards and flashbacks, the tale reveals terrible emotional moments throughout, and then lets us build…

Mystic River (2003) – Clint Eastwood
The next film from DK Canada’s The Movie Book as I tackle the What Else to Watch list following my screening of The Sweet Hereafter is this exemplary film from Clint Eastwood. The movie stars Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, Laurence Fishburne, Marcia Gay Harden, and Laura Linney. The film follows three childhood friends,…

Moonlighting (1985) – Gunfight at the So-So Corral, and Read the Mind… See the Movie
Maddie’s (Cybill Shepherd) first full day at the Blue Moon Detective Agency office doesn’t go as well as she hopes in the first episode this week. Written by Micheal Petryni, Gunfight at the So-So Corral, the first episode after the pilot, debuted on 5 March, 1985. When the office is slow, David Addison (Bruce Willis)…
Star Wars: Last Shot (2018) – Daniel Jose Older
I’ve read a slew of Star Wars books, though not so many since the blog started as I used to. They are fun, entertaining, enjoyable, and now that they are considered canon, usually that much more detail-oriented in tying in with the rest of the universe. Last Shot, a Han and Lando novel is all…
