“Without honor, victory is hollow.” With this trio of episodes we’ve reached the end of the third season, and what a way to amp things up. This season has been filled with sharp writing, new and amazing characters, and some satisfying story and character arcs for our heroes. Citadel Rescue was written by Matt Michnovetz…

Hard Boiled (1992) – John Woo
The Directory, filling out the last section of DK Canada’s marvellous The Movie Book, brings me a 90s action classic. One that set the standard for Honk Kong cinema, and found fans all over the world with its style of balletic violence, beautifully crafted shots, and fantastic set pieces. Not to mention, the exemplary Chow…
Star Trek: Voyager (2001) – Homestead, and Renaissance Man
Captain’s log: stardate 54868.6 LeVar Burton directs this episode from a script by Raf Green, and sees Neelix’s (Ethan Phillips) departure from the series when the Voyager comes across a Talaxian settlement which needs help, and Neelix finds his place among them. It first aired on 9 May, 2001. There’s some nice continuity within the…
Moonlighting (1988) – Eek! A Spouse!, and Maddie Hayes Got Married
So Maddie (Cybill Shepherd) is married, and David (Bruce Willis) despite blowing up last week, seems to be handling the news better than the rest of the office in Eek! A Spouse! Written by Ron Osborn and Charles H. Eglee from a story by Roger Director, Kerry Ehrin, and Jeff Reno, this episode debuted on…
Star Trek: Voyager (2001) – Friendship One, and Natural Law
Captain’s log: stardate 54775.4 Micheal Taylor and Bryan Fuller pen this episode that debuted on 25 April, 2001. An episode that is view of the series finish line, and sees the crew of the Voyager getting their first mission from Starfleet since their original orders at the beginning of the series. It seems an probe…
Gemini Man (2019) – Blu-Ray Review
It should have worked. An Academy Award winning director (though action is not his forte), a bankable lead actor, a solid supporting cast, and the seed of a solid story. Will Smith gets his Bourne on (a couple of times) in Gemini Man, the Ang Lee action film that comes home on blu-ray and DVD from…
Beverly Hills Cop: 3 Movie Collection – Blu-Ray Review
Axel Foley as brought to the screen by Eddie Murphy just celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the release of the original Beverly Hills Cop. And what better way to celebrate than with an all new blu-ray edition of all three films from Paramount Canada? One of the best fish out of water, and action comedies…
Harold and Maude (1971) – Hal Ashby
The Directory in DK Canada’s The Movie Book brings me another classic that I should have seen long ago, and now, have finally been able to remedy that. Combining dark humour with an offbeat romance, Ashby’s film embraces eccentricity while reminding us to live for today. Young Harold (Bud Cort – who looks twelve) has…
Dragonslayer (1981) – Matthew Robbins
Vermithax Perjorative. Was there ever a better name for a dragon ever? DK Canada’s Monsters in the Movies book brings me this classic film from ’81 as I continue my exploration of the dark chapter on dragons and dinosaurs. Boasting some fantastic creature effects, Vermitax may be the best looking dragon to ever be presented…
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2011) – Ghosts of Mortis, The Citadel, and Counter Attack
“He who seeks to control fate shall never find peace.” Christian Taylor pens this episode that continues the Mortis story arc, that finds Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) and Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) still trapped on the strange planet, with a family of powerful Force users. This episode first aired on…
