Releasing from Anchor Bay today, is the 25th anniversary edition of this unprecedented anime film. The downside to it, is that despite that it’s the 25th Anniversary of the original manga, there are sadly no bonus features on the disc. On the plus side, the film looks very nice on Blu-Ray, and comes in…

Delivery: The Beast Within (2013) – Brian Netto
Releasing today on DVD from Anchor Bay is a nice take on the found footage film, combining reality television with a hint of Rosemary’s Baby, and a touch of Paranormal Activity. Rachel (Laurel Vail) and Kyle (Danny Barclay) after years of trying, are finally expecting. And they’re also the subject of a new reality show…
The Rockford Files (1977) – The Battle of Canoga Park & Second Chance
More trouble finds Jim (James Garner) this week as he gets caught up in a murder, and a domestic! The Battle of Canoga Park was written by Juanita Bartlett and aired 30 September, 1977. The phone gag features a call from a neighbor war letting them know they are looking for their missing pet……
Mirage Men (2013) – John Lundberg, Roland Denning & Kypros Kyprianou
This was an interesting documentary, based on the book by Mark Pilkington, no matter where you come down on the subject of UFOs. I like to stride the middle of the road, I really want to believe that they are out there, and they may very well have been here before. But there is…
All is Lost (2013) – J.C. Chandor
I’m a huge Robert Redford fan, and I love boats and ships so this one seemed like a sure match for me. Played with almost no dialogue (what there is, is few and far between, and scant at that), Redford is the lone soul aboard the Virginia Jean. A competent and resourceful sailor he…
Doctor Who (Patrick Troughton) – The Evil of the Daleks
The Daleks return in this epic 7 part story that closes out the fourth season of Doctor Who. The Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and Jamie (Frazer Hines) pick up right where the last story ended off, but it seems someone has knicked the TARDIS. Someone, or something with a sinister plan. This one was written…
Pumpkinhead (1988) – Stan Winston
The always so cool Lance Henriksen stars in this creature-feature, cabin-in-the-woods horror film that was the directorial debut of the late, and much-missed Stan Winston. In a film packed with people I recognize, two of them from my favorite television show ever, Quantum Leap, the film plays within the typical B-movie tropes, but with…
Magnum, P.I. (1981) – J. ‘Digger’ Doyle & Beauty Knows No Pain
What Season 1 is over already?!?! That’s ok, it ends in a great way, the lovely Erin Gray stars in the first episode as the titular, J. ‘Digger’ Doyle. It also features Orson Welles as the voice of Robin Masters… This episode was written by Bellisario and aired on 9 April, 1981. In it,…
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2011) – Ransom Riggs
I’d been looking at this book for a while before I actually finally broke and purchased it. I flew through it, this one was totally engaging, and I loved every minute of it. It combines a fun, time-travelling adventure story, some creepy characters, and some vintage photographs. When things take a turn for the…
The Rockford Files (1977) – Beamer’s Last Case & Trouble in Chapter 17
Season 4 of The Rockford Files got under way on 16 September, 1977 with Beamer’s Last Case, written by Cannell from a story by Booker Bradshaw and Calvin Kelly. The first phone gag of the season features a call from Angel (Stuart Margolin) who announces he’s got a new apartment, and has some friends…
