Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks) find themselves dealing with an anxious groom in Til Death. Written by Katie Varney, this episode first debuted on 5 November, 2021.
Aiden (Ian Harding) hires the investigators to look into his fiancee, Serena (Molly Griggs), when she begins to behave weirdly, stressed, strange phone calls. Aiden insists she’s not messing around him, but he definitely wants to know what is going on, something that is heightened by the paranoia of his family.
When Magnum and Higgins tail her, they learn that she’s not having an affair, but she does have her secrets, which could be dangerous and deadly for all involved.
At La Mariana, T.C. (Stephen Hill) and Rick (Zachary Knighton) learn more about Cade’s (Martin Martinez) situation. The young man was abandoned by his mother, and when he’s called out for sleeping at the tiki bar he leaves. T.C. turns to Katsumoto (Tim Kang) for help.
We also learn that after her therapy, Higgins is reconsidering her relationship with Dr. Ethan. Something that Magnum touches on as well, and will cause her to make a decision by the end of the story, as the case they are working on looks at love, and the things we do for it and because of it.
It’s a fast-paced episode, Higgins gets a great chase sequence, and we get some nice emotional stuff with the La Mariana story thread.

Devil on the Doorstep sees Higgins taking another assignment from MI6, and the pair help a journalist track down his now missing source.
Written by Tera Tolentino this episode first aired on 12 November, 2021.
It also introduces a new character in Rick’s life, his childhood friend, Robbie (Devon Sawa) shows up sharing lots of tales from their youth. T.C. is a little unsure of Robbie’s motivations for being on the island, but can he risk their friendship, to be honest with his friend? It puts a bit of a strain on their friendship, but the two share everything, is it going to be enough to clue Rick into what Robbie is doing? Or will their friendship fall apart?
Oscar (Wilmer Calderon) approaches the pair of investigators to help him find his source who may have disappeared after a couple of articles he’s written came out.
Eve (Marsha Thomason) contacts Higgins with a new mission, but Higgins is starting to have suspicions about her continuing MI6 work.
Shammy (Christopher Thornton) makes a welcome appearance, now that he’s got his chopper licence. Cade gets a mention as T.C. is looking for a place for the pair to live instead of staying at Island Hoppers all the time.
There is definitely a lot going on in this episode, moving characters and their individual arcs forward, consequently, the case that Magnum is on (after Higgins is off working on her MI6 assignment) isn’t as strong as it could have been. But the character stuff is great!
There’s more next week as I explore more of Magnum P.I.: The Complete Series on DVD, available now from Paramount Canada. Aloha!
