A few months ago, Sue and I started toying with a couple of ideas to expand on the fun we’d been having with the blog. Working together we came up with the idea of doing script reads of old radio programmes.
To date, we’ve done three, and all of them have been hilarious, and will be available on our official web channel shortly, but we wanted to start sharing them quicker, and have decided to post the video to the blog, to be followed by the audio version to iTunes.
Working from a script from 1936, we dove into an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost. Assigning roles to our cast, we were ready to jump in.
This time around, we welcomed Rainbow Sun Francks, from The Listener, Stargate: Atlantis, Defiance and the upcoming Eyewitness (this is Rainbow’s third appearance on our Ole Timey show, and he’s been fun, brilliant and amazing each time!), Josh Vokey from Orphan Black, Josh’s cast mate, Kevin Hanchard, who also appears in The Expanse, Mike Donis from the popular webseries Pete Winning and the Pirates, and Emily Schooley from the Toronto-centric webseries, Thorns of Tenderness.
Sue and I divy up the roles, trying to think who would have the most fun with what, and then taking on tiny roles ourselves sit back and watch the wackiness.
So join us now, as we venture back in time and have a lot of fun with The Canterville Ghost… (We only shot on one camera, and consequently, may lose seeing Tim or Rainbow on occasion, but it is supposed to be a radio play, heard and not seen…)
The episode was a lot of fun, and it’s a joy to see everyone coming to play… When they air live, they prove to be very enjoyable for the viewers, so we thought we’d share this before the audio version goes up.
Take a look at some of the behind the scenes shots and make sure you follow us on Twitter and Facebook to find out when the next one is!
