Orphan Black S04E02 – Transgressive Border Crossing

Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) is back in Toronto tonight as Orphan Black roars on to screens courtesy of Space. After the revelations of last week, tonight’s episode jumps right into the rush, the science, the terror and a bit of body horror.

Sarah gets into contact with Cosima and Alison (both Maslany) and reveals the existence of Mika (also Maslany) as the episode continues to interweave flashbacks with Beth (yup, Maslany). There is also some tension between Sarah and Felix (Jordan Gavaris).

We get to check in with a number of characters, including Donnie (Kristian Bruun) and Helena (you guessed it, Maslany), and there’s some fun moments and revelations here. But the most terrifying we learn about is what is going on with the cheeks, and that whatever it is (and the name it’s given is incredibly gross) has a terrifying defense system.

The creepy EMS couple make an appearance, and Mika has an almost face to face with Sarah. Story threads are picked up from previous seasons, and things are laid out to set up the storylines for the season. The neolutionists are going to be a serious problem, and there are going to be all manner of personal problems as we learn from Cosima.

I love that we are slowly getting re-introduced to our favorite characters again, bit by bit, they are only brought back in when the story requires them, but they are beginning to show up.

Bu the thing that stays with me most, is the horrifying cheek implants, that is going to haunt me (and freak me out), and it’s going to be very interesting where this story thread goes. Just when you think things can’t get any more screwed up for our characters this little touch of body horror, and how it’s going to affect the characters, and who has it, and who doesn’t.

It’s going to be fascinating watching everything tie in, because it seems Manson and Fawcett know exactly where everything is going, and I can’t wait to find out how everything toes together.

Now, the unfortunate thing, is that I have to wait yet another week for anymore from Clone Club. We’re two episodes in, with eight to go, and I can’t wait to see what happens next…

Orphan Black can be found on Space this evening. Prepare to be wowed!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this show, and I’ll be jonesing for a week now…
