Anchor Bay Canada was kind enough to send me a copy of the first season of Da Vinci’s Demons, which was released on September 3. I was a little behind, even with our peripheral coverage of TIFF. But no sooner did I start this series when I was completely hooked. From David S. Goyer,…

TIFF – The Dick Knost Show (2013) – Bruce Sweeney
Bruce Sweeney`s latest character piece, you`ll recall I highly enjoyed The Crimes of Mike Recket, is a look at the world of sports radio, specifically the acid-tongued, quick-witted, numbers-driven Dick Knost (a hilarious turn by Thomas Scholte). He is controversial, and after he sends a number of inflammatory tweets, his network higher-ups finally have the…
TIFF – Short Cuts Canada Programme 6
Today brings us the last day of the short programs for TIFF 2013 here in Toronto, you can catch them screening at 7:00pm this evening or 12:15 tomorrow at the Lightbox. Like the five preceding programs this one if filled with gems and jewels, and one in particular I thought was brilliant! Cory Bowles’…

We Wanted…
TIFF 2013 – CinemaNovels – Terry Miles
It’s possible – even likely – that I am kind of biased towards Lauren Lee Smith in general. I mean, she’s funny, sweet, smart, talented and fairly gorgeous (if you’re into that breathtaking sort of thing), and since Tim and I now count her as almost a friend, it’s only natural that I would…
TIFF 2013 – Hateship Loveship – Liza Johnson
I knew almost nothing about this film going into it – just that it had a wonderful cast and was based on a short story by Alice Munro, which I’ve yet to read. As such, it was nearly impossible for me to predict anything that was going to happen, and before long, I found myself…
TIFF – Short Cuts Canada Programme 1
TIFF is under way, and screening today and tomorrow at the Lightbox is the first full programme of shorts. This collection features some amazing visuals and camera work, some odd stories, and a dazzling compilation of talent. Comprised of 6 titles, there’s a little bit of everything in this collection, and I was quite taken…
The Mind Reels Chats with Don Coscarelli
Fan Expo, already a weekend ago, is still fresh for Sue and I because of all the amazing people we got to meet and chat with. Thanks to our friends at Anchor Bay Canada, we even got to sit down with legendary director Don Coscarelli, to chat about his films, all of which are…
