I remember ‘borrowing permanently’ the hardcover version of Michael Crichton’s book from my mom as soon as I heard Spielberg had bought the rights to it, and was totally pumped to see dinosaurs brought to life on the big screen, and even now, this movie fails to disappoint. I also love that this teaser trailer doesn’t…
Dear Mr. Watterson (2013) – Joel Allen Schroeder
Calvin & Hobbes. Just reading the name brings a smile to my face. I came to this strip a little late, right around 1990, when I came across Something Under The Bed Is Drooling. I was gob-smacked, I had never come across a comic strip like this, one that reflected my own childhood, and…
Trailer Tracks: Blue Thunder (1983) – John Badham
It seemed kind of fitting today to post the trailer for Blue Thunder starring Roy Scheider and Malcolm McDowell. I remember seeing the movie shortly after it came out, and then, along comes Airwolf as a television series… Not to be outdone, and since they already had a helicopter, a short-lived Blue Thunder series…
Airwolf (1984) – Mind of the Machine & To Snare a Wolf
Season 1 of Airwolf comes to a close with these two episodes. David Carradine guest stars in Mind of the Machine, which aired 7 April, 1984, and was written by T.S. Cook. Carradine plays Dr. Robert Winchester, a scientist and test-pilot who was involved in designing Airwolf when the project was under the control of the…
Trailer Tracks: The Shining (1980) – Stanley Kubrick
Sometimes a trailer comes along that tells you next to nothing about the movie but for who’s involved, set that against a small clip of one of the most disturbing sequences in the movie, and you have yourself a unique teaser, like the one below for the Kubrick film based on Stephen King’s novel,…
Caliban’s War (2012) – James S.A. Corey
Book 2 of The Expanse series was just as captivating as the first book in the series, Leviathan Wakes. The authors, Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, working under the name of James S.A. Corey, brought me right back into the worlds they created, introduced me to some new characters, and ratcheted up the stakes for…
Trailer Tracks: Unforgiven (1992) – Clint Eastwood
This, hands down, is my favorite Clint Eastwood film EVER, and one of my favorite westerns as well! Gorgeous cinematography, a fantastic cast, a perfect script, and a talented director… I think it’s almost time to watch this one again…
All Cheerleaders Die (2013) – Lucy McKee & Chris Silverston
Hitting DVD and Blu-Ray today is this entertaining romp that is bound to become a cult classic, All Cheerleaders Die. The opening night feature for the Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF) Midnight Madness, I was a little unsure about this one, but thought I’d give it a shot. I was happily surprised. What could…
The Rockford Files (1976) – Drought at Indianhead River & Coulter City Wildcat
I can’t believe that James Garner passed away this past weekend. It now makes watching this show so much more poignant, as I can remember hearing the theme song coming from the television, and my I can remember my dad sitting there watching. It’s sad, but the man leaves an incredible legacy of entertainment,…
Trailer Tracks: Iron Man (2008) – Jon Favreau
Yes, The Avengers: Age of Ultron is still almost a year off, but anyone who knows me, will tell you that I think Iron Man is, well… The Man. So I thought, while I wait impatiently, I would throw this one up for another look, and remind everyone to Make. Mine. Marvel.
