Stargate: Universe (2010) – Lost, and Sabotage

Lost was written by Martin Gero and debuted on 30 April, 2010. It picks up shortly after the previously episode. The Destiny is continuing on its way, while Rush (Robert Carlyle) and his team try to figure out a way to leave those left behind, trapped in the cave-in.

Things are hampered as the ship goes into a power-saving mode, though no one knows why.

Back on the planet, Eli (David Blue), Chloe (Elyse Levesque), Scott (Brian J. Smith) and Greer (Jamil Walker Smith) are trying to find a way out of the caves, as the entire complex threatens to come down on them. Eli has a plan to use the gates, if they can reach the surface, to try and catch up to Destiny. But the odds are 50-50 at best.

Rush has a similar idea, but he has also discovered the course they are on… they are headed out of the galaxy, and there are no gates out there. There are only a couple more along the way. Can the lost team catch up in time?

Things escalate when Greer is separated from the group by another cave-in. We get some nice backstory on Greer, who has been an interesting character since his introduction, and we see some of his drive. Will he be able to catch up in time with the rest of the team?

Greer, in fact, gets rescued first, while the trio arrive back on the planet with the alien ship where Rush was left by Young. We learn that because of Chloe’s time on the alien ship she can sense some of the meaning behind the information on it. But the Destiny returns to FTL before they can dial the gate. So what now?

And on the Destiny, TJ (Alaina Huffman) reveals to Young (Louis Ferreira) that she’s pregnant.

Sabotage debuted on 7 May, 2010 and was written by Barbara Marshall and directed by Peter DeLuise.

Eli, Chloe and Scott have been left behind, and the Destiny is traveling between galaxies. Rush has done some calculations, however, and he doesn’t believe that the Destiny will be able to traverse the distance between galaxies. That’s why the ship has been working to conserve power.

And when the engines suddenly shut down… has someone tampered with the ship?

With the ship out of FTL and not too far out yet, the lost trio are able to dial the Destiny and get home! Reunited and it feels so good!

They use the communication stones to bring in an expert, Perry (Kathleen Munroe), who takes over Camille’s (Ming-Na Wen) body, to help Rush work the problem. Unfortunately, Perry is a quadriplegic and that is going to be a real trial for Camille while Perry uses her body.

On the flip side, Camille does get to see her partner again, welcome back Reiko Aylesworth as Sharon. And it shows the strain on their relationship with this added physical wrinkle.

James (Julia Benson) gets an interesting arc here, sh volunteers initially, but can’t handle it, so she has to deal with letting Young down. And she is having a recurring nightmare about being trapped in darkness. And she may somehow be responsible for the damage to the ship. And that, the chair, and th aliens may all be a big problem.

And TJ has started to change her clothes to accommodate her pregnancy (Huffman’s third child).

The work takes weeks, and we get to see lots of human moments, and a reminder that the alien threat is still out there.
