It’s March Break, and while the kiddies run around and parents are counting the moments until school is back in session, the geeks, who have inherited the Earth, returned to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to pay homage to their beloved films, television shows, animes, mangas, comics, and more by attending Toronto Comicon.

From the off, the North Building was doing gangbusters, bustling with fans decked out in their pop culture tees, and the truly devout in cosplay. With lots of jostling, one could navigate their way through Artist Alley, browse the countless booths hunting for that one perfect item that encapsulates the love of their fandom.

Star Wars’ Denis Lawson was already on site meeting and greeting fans, as was House of Usher’s Mary McDonnell, both of whom were having a wonderful time, and then there was the voice cast of the new X-Men ’97.

There’s lots of fantastic art, something for everyone, and there is just so much to see and do. For the first day, I kept it low-key, wandered and inspected the aisles, did some shopping, found something for George the Dog at Kitties With Kapes, some unusual treats, and plotting for the rest of the weekend.

There will be lots to see and do. I’m quite looking forward to the Star Trek panel tomorrow with Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Christina Chong, but I’m also keen to see all the great cosplay and get some pictures to share. If you’re there, say hey! And if you’re thinking about going check out the website here to get tickets, and scout the schedule.
