While the Buy More crew struggles to pass a CPR course (taught by Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) ) Chuck (Zachary Levi) is forced to reconnect with an ex, Jill (Jordana Brewster), when he helps out setting up some of the tech at a conference she’s presenting at. He flashes on one of her associates in this episode written by Zev Borow, and first debuted on 10 November, 2008.
After initially trying to avoid her, once he flashes on her co-worker, Chuck needs to stay close, and that may reawaken old feelings, and cause some grief with Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski).
Strahovski gets to use her actual accent, Australian, in this episode, and the potential baddie, Guy LaFleur (William Abadie) is named for a popular Montreal Canadiens hockey player, and also Jill’s boss.
With CIA and NSA assets, thanks to Sarah and Casey (Adam Baldwin), Chuck regains some of his mojo as he reconnects with Jill as they issue him new suits, a car, and more to maintain a cover that makes him look successful. Unfortunately, his cover is blown by Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay).
But Chuck has a tough time relating to Jill, considering how she hurt him, dumped him, and had a relationship with Bryce Larkin. Perhaps, by episode’s end, there will be some closure.
In the very least he will save a bunch of lives including Casey, when a extremely virulent version of influenza is released at the conference.
Chuck Versus the Fat Lady sees Jill still in the picture, as it is believed that her boss, LaFleur had a list of Fulcrum agents, and General Beckman (Bonita Friedericy) wants the team to get it in this episode that was written by Matthew Lau, and first aired on 17 November, 2008.
Getting the list ends up causing problems as Chuck attempts to rekindle his romance with Jill, and may cause some serious issues with the team, and how will Sarah react considering her real feelings for Chuck.
At the Buy More, Morgan (Joshua Gomez) takes on Emmett (Tony Hale).
This episode sees nods to The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy as well as the James Bond films. It also sees the team on a hunt for the list which involved problem solving, tricks, misunderstandings, and romantic tension as we get an actual romantic triangle.
Everything comes to a climax when Fulcrum comes after Jill and Chuck, and snatches Jill, setting up a trade, the list for Jill, which puts him at odds with Sarah and Casey. But everything works out, and Sarah, after a conversation with Jill is willing to bow out of the picture so that Chuck can have a chance at happiness with Jill.
But what if Jill is keeping a secret?
More action, laughs and spycraft next week when I dig into another couple of episodes of Chuck!
