The Mind Reels has been verified as the new official holders of the Guinness World Record for the Longest Uninterrupted Live Webcast (Video)!!!
It’s been a long journey (permission to make the attempt was applied for on July 29, 2014, and the verification email came through on July 27, 2015), but now that it’s finally up on the Guinness World Record site, we could not be more thrilled and excited! Eagerly awaiting the first copy of the official certificate to arrive in the mail (with more to be ordered ASAP), we wanted to reiterate the fact that none of this could have been accomplished without the help and support we received from all of YOU!

Over the weekend of November 7-9, 2014, The Mind Reels made an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Uninterrupted Live Webcast! We went for just over 48 hours straight (the time submitted to Guinness is 48 hours and 3 minutes) and while we won’t know the official result for a while yet, we would like to recognize that the event itself was an enormous success, and created one of the greatest weekends of our lives! We would also like to acknowledge the fact that none of it could have happened without tireless support from all sides, and in all aspects.

Toronto, ON – On Friday, November 7, 2014, co-hosts of the Toronto-based blog/podcast The Mind Reels, Timothy D Rideout and Sue Maynard, will make an official attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the Longest Uninterrupted Live Webcast.
Broadcasting live from the lobby of the InterContinental Toronto Centre, 225 Front Street West, Toronto, and starting at 7:00pm on the 7th, the event will be free and open to the public to view both in person and online. While the current record stands at 36 hours and 23 seconds, The Mind Reels hopes to trounce the record with a revolving-door of guests – both returning and new – in a number of casual chats filled with viewer participation and interaction.
With a history of entertaining interviews featuring the casts of some of Canada’s most popular productions like Murdoch Mysteries, Bomb Girls, Orphan Black, Defiance, Lost Girl, The Listener, Continuum, Bitten and Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain, this weekend-long event promises to be fun for the guests, hosts and viewers worldwide!
Working in conjunction with Smithee.TV (created and produced by Ryan Goldhar of The Characters Talent Agency), The Mind Reels has, since its 2011 inception, crafted a well-respected niche for itself amongst Canadian talent. The Mind Reels is continually expanding, meeting more of the people who create Canada’s entertainment, and then sharing entertaining and informative content with the rest of the world.

Awesome, I did not hear of this at the time. Has the record been broken?
Sadly yes. We did it in 2014, but in 2011 a TV station team went for about 6 days. They were approved after we were, even though they’d done it a few years prior. Was lovely while it lasted, though, and we’re still proud of our endurance throughout what ended up being a wonderful weekend event! ☺
