Enterprise leaps from the small screen to the the theatrical one with this first film which isn’t for everyone, but the older I get, the more…

Hot Docs 2016: Operation Avalanche – Matt Johnson
It’s right there in the title, Operation Avalanche, it’s a snow job. This faux documentary is played straight, pretending to be a film edited together from film shot by a pair of agents (Matt Johnson and Owen Williams) posing as filmmakers, working on a documentary about the Apollo program at the height of the…
Cub (2014) – Jonas Govaerts
Also releasing from Anchor Bay today is this film that hails from Belgium. The blurb had me from the outset. Young Sam (Maurice Luijten) is troubled and imaginative. He’s off on a camping trip with his local cub scout troop, with Kris (Titus De Voogdt), Peter (Stef Aerts) and Jasmijn (Evelien Bosmans) as their…

Trailer Tracks: Batman (1989) – Tim Burton
Back in 1989, I was totally into Batman, that was before DC started disappointing me with their film properties… and I was so excited by this big screen version, though, like many people at the time I scoffed at the idea of a comedian, Michael Keaton, playing the caped crusader. But I became a convert,…
Everything Or Nothing (2012) – Stevan Riley
Bond… James Bond. I’ve been a fan since I saw the trailer for For Your Eyes Only on SuperChannel, and tried to buy a James Bond book for the road trip to New Brunswick, though my father did not approve. Once we relocated to Bermuda and finally had to break and buy a VHS…

It’s a dark and dreary day as Sue and I make our way across the cityscape of Toronto, heading to the west side so that we can plunge into the mysterious, and enchanting world of the Fae. Showcase has invited us to the set of Lost Girl! We’re very eager to have a look, as…
