John Cusack has long been a favorite of mine,I was first introduced to him through a pair of Savage Steve Holland films, Better Off Dead, and One Crazy Summer… and I loved both of them. A fun sense of humor and play permeated both films, and they are still just a delight to watch…

Trailer Tracks: The Goonies (1985) – Richard Donner
Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner working with a script from Christopher Columbus created this great film that starred Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green and Martha Plimpton. I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen this one, I know I played the soundtrack on cassette so many times the lettering faded from it,…
Trailer Tracks: Return To Oz (1985) – Walter Murch
A very loose sequel to the original classic, this one starring Fairuza Balk as Dorothy. Upon ending back in Oz, Dorothy finds everything changed, and must restore the magic land with the help of some interesting new characters… I keep meaning to rewatch this one.
Trailer Tracks: The Breakfast Club (1985) – John Hughes
This far and away my favorite John Hughes movie. I remember when they screened this for us in high school, and I loved it. Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson… Awesome.
Back To The Future (1985) – Robert Zemeckis
I love this movie so much! It’s always a joy to watch, and it puts me right back in 1985, I remember seeing it, reading the novel on my way to school, I remember playing the soundtrack over and over until the ink of the track listings was completely faded, I even got myself a…
American Ninja (1985) – Sam Firstenberg
My exploration of B-movie 80s action movies continues with American Ninja. And what a surprise this one came from Canon and Golan and Globus as well. I think they must’ve made out alright in the 80s with all the goofy little low budget action movies they were making. It may be hard to believe but…
Stephen King’s It
I’ve been revisiting Stephen King books, and then when I’m done a title, I like to take a look at the accompanying film, or mini-series. I recently finished King’s epic book It. I haven’t read that since I was a teen, probably 13 or 14. I used to make sure that my Mom got King’s…
Teen Wolf – One of the Best Shows You’re Not Watching
I remember watching Teen Wolf with Michael J. Fox back in 1985 and I remember totally crushing on the female lead in the film Boof (Susan Ursitti). So when Sue told me that MTV was making a new series based on the same material my immediate reaction with raised eyebrows and cynical expression on my…
I’m Heading Back To The Year 1985… Miami Vice
I spent my formative teen years growing up in my own island paradise, though like all teenagers, I didn’t always appreciate what I had. I think it also explains my love for Magnum, P.I. and Miami Vice. As far as I’m concerned both shows were perfect embodiments of living in paradise, well, more or less,…
