Ok, this one was stronger than last week’s ep, and we’re still seeing the team coalesce. I’m hoping we’re almost at the point where that happens and storylines can get big and epic, our characters can grow and change, and we’ll get to explore a little bit more of the Marvel Universe, as opposed to…
Hammertown Comic Con
Sue and I, with our friend and camera operator Kayleigh Book in tow, tackled the Hammertown Comic Con in Hamilton this past weekend, and we had a lot of fun! There were 3 Back To The Future guests, a couple of DeLoreans, some fantastic costumes, great art, and some cool folks to chat to! Sue…
Night of the Living Dead Live
I don’t get to see enough stage and theater productions, but it’s shows like this that are guaranteed to get me out and sitting excitedly in a seat. At the beginning of its three-week run, Night of the Living Dead Live, currently on stage at the Theatre Passe Muraille on Ryerson Ave, is not…
Modern Times (1936) – Charlie Chaplin
The Great Movies – 100 Years of Film continues to entertain as I continue to make my way through the 5 associated titles with The Gold Rush. This effort also directed and starring Chaplin features a rudimentary soundtrack, and is delightful fun. Even in the 30s the continuing, striving pace of technology and progress…
Nothing Left To Fear (2013) – Anthony Leonardi III
Anchor Bay sent a long Nothing To Fear for me to take a look at this week, it’s getting a lot of chatter because it is being produced by legendary rocker Slash and his production company. In the film’s special features Slash voices an opinion of horror movies that I quite agree with, the…
Sue’s Week in TV – Hits & Highlights
Once Upon A Time – Season Three, Episode One: Heart of the Truest Believer This week saw the return of magic once again to our TV screens, and while I wasn’t as geared up in anticipation as I’ve been for some other shows, OUAT is always a solid happy hour for me, and this…
Murdoch Mysteries S07E02 – Tour De Murdoch
Tonight Season 7 of Murdoch Mysteries continues with this enjoyable episode, that as always entertained, made me laugh, and captivated. Inspector Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) is testing out some augmentations he’s made to his bicycle by entering a local race, that features some professional cyclists including Major Taylor (Defiance’s Dewshane Williams). Barely has the race…
Happy Birthday to The Mind Reels!!
It has been two years since our inaugral post. Even now, Sue and I look at each other, completely baffled, wondering how we got here?! We’ve seen and done some amazing things this past year, have chatted to some brilliant folks, made some incredible new friends, and have continued to pursue our love of…
Pi (1999) – Darren Aronofsky
The 101 Sci-Fi Movies brings another mess with your mind film, this time from Darren Aronofsky. Shot in a gritty black and white, subjective style, the film follows a brilliant mathematician, Max Cohen (Sean Gullette) as he becomes obsessed with tracking down the pattern of the universe. He’s convinced that the entire realm of…

The third of Nic Cage’s action trio from the late 90s makes its appearance on the 101 Action Movies list in this film directed by Simon West. Cage plays retired Ranger Cameron Po, who after his service is eager to rejoin his newly pregnant wife (Monica Potter) to raise their child together. On their…
