I remember this movie vividly, and the fact that I came across the original novel as well, which was not neverending, but did in fact cover more than the events of the first film. Petersen made a fantastic film here, filled with wonder and emotion, I mean who can forget Artax in the Swamps…

Trailer Tracks: The Karate Kid (1984) – John G. Avildsen
Sweep the leg! This movie… just watching the trailer brings back so many memories… wow. I like this one and the second one, and then tuned out… watching Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio in this film, made me wish for a mentor like Mr. Miyagi… and of course, there’s Elisabeth Shue as well 🙂
Trailer Tracks: The Great Escape (1963) – John Strugess
This film was my first introduction to Steve McQueen, and I love to revisit it. Based on the true story, and packed with a fantastic cast… Richard Attenborough, James Garner, James Coburn, Donald Pleasance, Charles Bronson… just fantastic!
Trailer Tracks: Better Off Dead (1985) – Savage Steve Holland
John Cusack has long been a favorite of mine,I was first introduced to him through a pair of Savage Steve Holland films, Better Off Dead, and One Crazy Summer… and I loved both of them. A fun sense of humor and play permeated both films, and they are still just a delight to watch…

Back in the 80s, it seemed Eddie Murphy could do no wrong… even when he did this fun little fantasy film that featured him taking on a demonic Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance)!
Trailer Tracks: A Few Good Men (1992) – Rob Reiner
Based on the play by Aaron Sorkin, the starpower alone in this film makes it worth watching (Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Pollak, Kevin Bacon, Xander Berkley, James Marshall and J.T. Walsh)! Mix that in with some fantastic dialogue, a great story, and you have a film that I love to…

Don Cosarelli would become a favorite director (I still geek out…
Trailer Tracks: Labyrinth (1986) – Jim Henson
Jim Henson, working with producer George Lucas, created a beautiful fantasy world filled with amazing characters both live action (David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly (I developed such a crush on her) and puppet, great music (David Bowie and Trevor Jones) that opened my eyes, in much the way Muppets, The Dark Crystal did, and that Farscape would…
Trailer Tracks: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) – Steven Spielberg
One of the biggest influences on my childhood, if not my entire life, alongside Star Wars, is this homage to the adventures of yesteryear, Raiders of the Lost Ark… that music (John Williams), that cast (Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, John Rhys-Davies), those stunts (Vic Armstrong)!!! Often imitated, and sequel-ized, but never matched…
Trailer tracks: Gremlins (1984) – Joe Dante
Man, do I remember this movie, and I still adore it. Who wouldn’t want a Mogwai?
