Private eye Jim Rockford (James Garner) finds himself in more trouble with this week’s installment that sees two episodes from November 1974! In the first episode In Pursuit of Carol Thorne, which aired November 8, and was written by Cannell off of a story by Roy Huggins, Jim is brought on to find a…

A Fish Called Wanda (1988) – Charles Crichton
The final recommendation from Kind Hearts and Coronets in the Great Movies – 100 Years of Film is a personal favorite of mine. This was Charles Crichton’s last film, but I’m so glad the recommendations allowed me to see two more of his films I had never even heard of, Hue and Cry (now…
Masters of the Universe (1987) – Gary Goddard
Sometimes you just want to disconnect your mind, and enjoy some fromage that just melts around your brain, and Masters of the Universe is 80s cheese that is just oh-so-bad, and not in the fun cult way that Flash Gordon is. In the long run, I think the only really good thing to come out…
Doctor Who (William Hartnell) – The Aztecs
Another historical tale, that also sees Barbara (Jacqueline Hill) trying to change the past and The Doctor (Hartnell) developing a bit of a romantic relationship with one of the locals that goes as far as an engagement in this four episode story. The Doctor is becoming increasingly likeable as well. This story aired from the 23 May…
Game of Thrones – Season 3 On Blu-Ray
HBO is quickly becoming the gold standard by which I measure a collection’s extras, and transfers by, and the latest season of George R.R. Martin’s epic and involving fantasy tale is another feather in their cap. Since it burst on the scene in 2011, the series has enraptured fans and non-fans alike with its…
Battlestar Galactica (1979) – War of the Gods Parts 1 & 2
Trouble comes to the fleet in two forms in this two-part episode written by series creator Glen A. Larson in the form of mysterious white orbs and some spectral looking beings, and the deceptive Count Iblis (Patrick Macnee). This of all the series so far, has the most religious overtones with mentions of good and…
The Ritual (2012) – Adam Nevill
A short time ago, I googled scary novels, because it has been a long time since I read something that really got to me, and I haven’t ever read anything that required me to leave a light on at night, and though I recognized and had read a number of the books that were…
The Rockford Files (1974) – The Big Ripoff & Find Me If You Can
This time around private investigator Jim Rockford (James Garner) has a couple of interesting cases… First up, we have The Big Ripoff, with an airdate of 25th October, 1974, written by Robert Hamner from a story by Roy Huggins, that sees Rockford trying to find a man who supposedly died in a plane crash, but may…
Remedy S01E01 & S01E02
Tonight Global unveils it’s new dramatic series, Remedy, starring Enrico Colantoni, Sara Canning, Dillon Casey and Sarah Allen as the Conners family. Now, before you get ready to change the channel, because obviously the next thing television needs in addition to moronic reality television, inane sitcoms, and police procedurals is another medical drama, this…
The Ladykillers (1955) – Alexander Mackendrick
The recommendations from Great Movies – 100 Years of Film for Kind Hearts and Coronets continue to entertain with this film that features Alec Guinness, Herbert Lom and Peter Sellers. I`d seen the Coen Brothers remake with Tom Hanks, but had never seen the original, which is too bad, because this one was a…
