Looks like we’re introducing another familiar DC character to the Smallville-verse, Cyborg! First airing on 16 February, 2006, this episode was written by Caroline Dries.

Victor Stone (Lee Thompson Young) is the victim of experiments by LuthorCorp, turning him into a cybernetic being, and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) wants him back. But Victor has a new friend, Clark Kent (Tom Welling).

Clark’s x-ray vision reveals something a little more inline with the typical incarnation of Cyborg. The pair find a way to connect, and a friendship forms. It’s definitely better than the one he formed with Arthur Curry (Alan Ritchson).

But how can they stop Lex who seems absolutely determined to get Victor back (though he lies to both Clark and Lana (Kristin Kreuk)) about his intentions and actions. And when Lex gets his hands on Victor again, will Clark be able to save his new friend before it’s too late?

And the friendship between Lex and Clark seems really to have completely crumbled. There is a huge lack of trust between the two characters now, a lot has changed in five seasons.

And as Martha (Annette O’Toole) prepares for her role in the senate, it seems she may be lined u to be the target of blackmail. Whose behind it? Lionel Luthor (John Glover) offers to help, but what is his motivation for doing so? Is he behind it, or is he working a different angle? And how much does he know about Clark?

Happily, Victor gets a fairly happy ending, though it also highlights how far apart Clark and Lana are now as well.

Man, Clark’s life is pretty lonely.

Hypnotic was written by Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. It debuted on 30 March, 2006.

The story opens in Honduras with a stunning reveal, guess who is back? Milton Fine (James Marsters) and it doesn’t take long for Lex to get on his tail, and try to track him down for his own purposes. An what does this mean for Clark? And will Lex let Lana know about Fine’s return? And if Fine is in Honduras, is the Kryptonian ship there too?

Meanwhile, back in Smallville, there’s a new girl in town, who may be putting the final nail in the demise of the Clark/Lana relationship. Enter, Simone (Nichole Hiltz), who seems to have a power of over Clark. What is the blue pendant she’s wearing? And how much of his true nature will he reveal to her?

And surprise, she’s working for Lex… but will she tell him what she has learned? What angle is she playing?

Will his friends be able to save him? What is Simone up to? And will this be the real end of the relationship between Lana and Clark? Lana tells Lex it is, and he hints that he’s interested in her.

I’m glad Fine is back, but honestly, another story following Clark’s romances and ruining his relationship with Lana, we’ve had five seasons of that, can we get rid of the trope now?
