Adama (Edward James Olmos) attempts to deal with the loss of twenty-four ships to Roslin’s (Mary McDonnell) religious ploy, leading them to Kobol, where they await Sarbuck (Katee Sackhoff) and the Arrow of Apollo.

Home is a two-part story whose first episode debuted on 19 August, 2005. It was written by David Eick.

A number of Roslin’s people aren’t sure they can trust Apollo (Jamie Bamber) but he has Roslin’s trust. Zarek (Richard Hatch) has a new aide, Meier (James Remar), a counterbalance to Roslin’s religious aide, Elosha (Lorena Gale).

But Starbuck isn’t alone; Helo (Tahmoh Penikett) is back, and so is Boomer (Grace Park) – something Apollo (who unexpectedly greets Starbuck) isn’t keen on, considering what another model did to his father. Roslin orders Boomer thrown out an airlock, but she claims to know where the Tomb of Athena is… will it be enough to spare her life?

With the Arrow of Apollo in hand, an expedition to the surface is planned, but Elosha warns that people will die.

And will what happened on Caprica strain the relationship(?) between Starbuck and Apollo?

Meanwhile, thanks to Apollo’s betrayal, the Galactica needs a new CAG, and Adama promotes Lt. Birch (Benjamin Aryes) to the position, something Tigh (Michael Hogan) doesn’t think is a good call, and he’s right, because things get frakked during training exercises. Adama also has to deal with the press, which isn’t as easy as he thought it would be.

Roslin leads her party to Kobol, with Boomer as their guide. And things go sideways pretty fast, as they find themselves in a Cylon ambush.

As the first part closes out, Adama has a discussion with Dualla (Kandyse McClure), who helps him find his focus again… to reunite the fleet.

It’s a damn fine episode, and sets things up nicely for it’s second part as we hope Adama is able to pull it off, but also hope Roslin’s mission is a success.

Brilliant television. It remains smart, engaging, and has great stories and characters.

Adama takes the fleet to Kobol and works to find Roslin and her expedition. I love the episode’s opening, with a fantastic montage of images moving us back and forth between Adama and Roslin, scored brilliantly by Bear McCreary.

And Meier and Zarek, knowing that there will be a body count on Kobol, think this may be a great time to get rid of Apollo.

Meanwhile, Baltar (James Callis) is told that he may be insane. To be clear, it’s the Six (Tricia Helfer) in his mind telling him that. She presses him to have himself checked out if he doesn’t believe her, and he seems to have some serious problems when it comes to interacting with her now.

Adama is able to find his son, Starbuck and Roslin, and he joins them on the quest. Seeing him reconnect with his son and Starbuck is amazing, and it’s all spoiled when Boomer steps out. Can he forgive or understand, especially with Helo being in love with her and carrying his child?

She gets to prove part of her intentions by taking out Meier and handing her weapon over to Adama.

And once reunited, both parties work to find the Tomb of Athena… and the way to Earth? Placing the Arrow triggers a vision for all of them. With a new hope, the fleet is reunited, once again in common purpose. How long will that last, and what new troubles await them as they head out in search of a home?

Such a brilliant show. This is a fantastic rewatch.
