Stargate: Universe (2011) – Deliverance, and Twin Destinies

Deliverance picks up where the mid-season finale left off. Written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, it launched the second half of the final season on 7 March, 2011.

Chloe (Elyse Levesque) is free and has sent a signal for help (to whom? the aliens that abducted her, and are slowly transforming her). The Destiny is under attack near the Drone command ship, and what are the Ursini doing?

So what happens when the other aliens show up? Does Chloe have a plan?

The battle wages around Destiny, and with the arrival of the other aliens, the ship may have a chance. Young (Louis Ferreira) is in command on the bridge, and with help from Telford (Lou Diamond Phillips), Rush (Robert Carlyle) and Eli (David Blue) they may be able to destroy the command ship and make an escape.

But now we have more alien problems to deal with. Drones, aliens, and repairs.

They have a lot of hurdles to overcome and tension and problems are mounting.

Eli suggests capturing one of the drones in an attempt to reprogram it, but for how long can they avoid all the dangers around them?

The aliens want Chloe back. And the crew agree, what does that mean for Chloe? Honestly, it looks like they healed her and returned her. But they still want Desttiny.

And where did the Ursini scamper off to? They’re getting ready for something big. And what will Rush and Eli be able to figure from the drone? Is there a way to disrupt them all?

It’s amazing how much is going on in this series, the characters, the narratives, it’s big and engaging.

Twin Destinies was written by Brad Wright and first aired on 14 March, 2011.

Destiny is in rough shape after her recent encounters, so they guide it to a star for some refueling. Eli thinks with all the power they are absorbing they may be able to dial Earth. Simulations suggest that it could work. Rush is against it.

He fears the anomalous behavior of the star could cause issues. As the gate is about to be dialed up, they receive a message… from Rush… from twelve hours in the future… in one of Destiny’s shuttles. He is coming with a warning about what happens.

Meanwhile, the crew is assembling in the gate room, preparing to head home.

The other Rush relates what happened when his Destiny dialed Earth. But guess what is in orbit of the sun…the other Destiny, which may solve some of their problems.

Unfortunately, things are revealed through the course of the episode to bring a number of things into question about the other Rush’s story. And there is a death involved.

This is a great episode. Smart, well-written and gives Carlyle lots to do, and also keeps everyone on the Destiny.

There’s a fun appearance by Dr. Lee (Bill Dow).
