Stargate: Universe (2010) – Visitation, and Resurgnce

When Destiny drops out of FTL, the crew are shocked to find one of their own shuttles waiting for them. And aboard it? The select few who elected to stay behind on that alien planet. But now, they don’t know how they got here.

Visitation was written by Remi Aubuchon and first aired on 23 November, 2010.

No one is sure of how they got here. Young (Louis Ferreira) is understandably reticent and cynical, but TJ (Alaina Huffman) hopes her baby will be with them. How did they get here, and what does it mean for the aliens who created the planet they were on?

And TJ’s baby isn’t with them. And none of them remember her appearing on the planet. In fact, none of them seem to remember more than just the basics of survival, and no real details. And when Eli (David Blue) asks one of them about the alien tower there, it causes a bloody breakdown.

The Destiny crew is not sure about welcoming them aboard, and suspicion arises about some sort of memory tampering, as if the aliens on the planet worked to hide something. But what? Things are complicated when some of them begin to die, and others among the group remember them being dead already.

The aliens sent them as a way to say goodbye, and the last recording of the kino aboard the ship reveals… something.

And Chloe (Elyse Levesque)? What’s happening to her? Is she becoming something other than human? There is a beautifully powerful moment between her and Greer (Jamil Walker Smith). It’s fantastically done. Her fate may already decided.

Resurgence sees Chloe’s story escalating, and the Destiny discovering the remains of an epic space battle.

Written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, this episode, the mid-season of the final season first aired on 30 November, 2010.

Whatever is happening to Chloe is spreading faster.

The crew are awestruck by the debris field they have come across, and are shocked to come under attack by a series of drones. This leads to a lot of fun action sequences, and some nice looking space sequences as an exploring crew led by Scott (Brian J. Smith) tries to get back to Destiny mid-attack.

The FTL is down, and tthe shields are failing, so they try to make a run for it but are stunned by the arrival of the seed ship, with Telford (Lou Diamond Phillips) aboard… with the Ursini?

Who created the drones? They seem to be a mutual enemy of both the Destiny crew and the Ursini. As the Destiny and the seed ship hide from the drone’s near the system’s star, they concoct a plan to destroy the drone’s control ship.

Eli also has a huge emotional talk with Camille (Ming-Na Wen) as he confronts his feelings about losing Ginn. And when he goes to see Chloe, she uses him to escape from her quarters and races to the bridge… is she going to help Destiny or its attackers?

With the attack on the control ship hanging in the balance, and countless drones attacking, and the trust with the Ursini fragile at best, we are left wondering what happens next.

Viewers would have to wait almost four months to find out. I just have to get to Thursday.
