In Light, the Destiny is on a collision course with a star following their maneuver around the gas giant. First airing on 23 October, 2009, this episode was written by Brad Wright and directed by Peter DeLuise.
There is no power to steer the ship, in fact, no one knows even how to pilot it. But Young (Louis Ferreira) reveals the fact that there is a shuttle, with limited space. There will be a lottery to see who goes to one of the nearby planets, with an outside chance at survival.
But can Rush (Robert Carlyle) or Eli (David Blue) be able to find a way out. The series gives us more flashbacks, and makes Eli a more sympathetic character, not that he wasn’t but it definitely makes him relatable. He’s also hurt that Chloe (Elyse Levesque) and Scott (Brian J. Smith) choose to be together. He’s got a thing for Chloe.
He also helps the crew record messages on kinos. messages in a bottle, though who could find it?
As the rest of the crew prepare for what may be the end, liaisons happen, tensions rise, and choices will have to be made. And we also get more character development as we see layers revealed, and how it affects relationships and circumstances.
As the Destiny draws closer to the star, and people are preparing for their end, something begins to happen aboard the ship. It doesn’t crash into the sun, it uses it, to recharge, power up, and resume its course, recovering the shuttle on the way.
I haven’t mentioned it yet, but I love Ming-Na Wen in this. In fact, I really enjoy the entire cast on this show.
The series also uses a different kind of camerawork. A lot of handheld, and zooms as if catching an unexpected action.

Now that the ship has fully recharged, the crew is delivered another new problem, the water levels are mysteriously dropping, and everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else.
Water was written by Carl Binder from a story he developed with Wright and Robert C. Cooper. It debuted on 30 October, 2009.
When Destiny drops out of FTL, a nearby planet with a toxic atmosphere is covered in ice. But only two of Destiny’s space suits are currently operational. So Scott and Young are off to carve some ice.
Oh, and there seems to be something else on the ship with them. a strange cloud. When TJ (Alaina Huffman) encounters it, she’s unsure of what it is, and what it could mean. Could it be the same thing that Scott thought he encountered on the desert planet?
Eli panics and overreacts even as TJ and Rush work together, and struggle to keep Young and Scottt on track.
Personal tensions are still rising among the crew, especially with the new relationship between Chloe and Scott – James (Julia Benson) had a thing with Scott before everything went sideways, and Eli is still crushing on Chloe.
There is tons going on, and it isn’t going to go smoothly for anyone on this ship. It’s not like any Stargate we’ve seen before, and it’s a whole new adventure.
