The big mid-season story concludes with The Lost Tribe. And it picks up right where the previous episode ended. The Stargate room explodes as the gate blew up. Todd the Wraith (Christopher Heyerdahl) ha seized the Daedalus and is heading for Atlantis, and Daniel (Michael Shanks) and McKay (David Hewlett) have discovered that the device they are working on will blow up any gate that dials if the device is activated.
Written by Martin Gero, this episode first aired on 10 October, 2008.
Ronon (Jason Momoa) and Keller (Jewel Staite) are able to escape their holding cell and plan to sabotage the Daedalus. The ship has reached Atlantis, and Todd demands that Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) turn off the device.
Sheppard doesn’t have it, but asks to be picked up so that he can go with Todd. But before any of that happens, one of the Travellers shows up to inquire why gates are blowing up. Sheppard catches a ride with them, while Todd is already on the run with Daedalus.
And who are these people under their armor? Daniel is shocked to dicover that they are Asgardian! We’ve never come across Asgardians who are so brutal and selfish in their actions.
Is there a way to garner a new peace? What happens when the Daedalus with the Wraith aboard reach their Asgard base? They plan to use the Daedalus to collide with the facility while the Wraith escape.
Tensions are high. McKay and Daniel are able to help out in the base, at serious risk to themselves. Big moments ensue, and we are left to wonder if the Asgard will be villains in the Pegasus Galaxy.
Really liked this one, and it was wonderful having Daniel show up.
Oh, and Keller makes her choice.

Outsiders debuted on 17 October, 2008 and was written by Alan McCullough.
The Wraith are working on a way to negate the Hoffan drug – it makes humans distasteful to them. If that doesn’t work, they plan on exterminating all those who are infected.
And who better to help the Atlantis team thwart this mission than Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion)? It’s always nice when Carson shows up. He’s such a wonderful character.
Beckett is working on a quiet planet, a planet that is currently homing refugees who carry the Hoffan virus. Including Beckett’s friend, and aide, Novo (Agam Darshi). Trouble arrives shortly after Sheppard and his team arrive… a troop of Wraith come in demanding that all the refugees be turned over for extermination.
So what will Sheppard, Carson, and McKay do?
There’s a commentary on refugees and immigration here. It’s couched, of course, in science fiction trappings, but there’s something more going on here.
But what happens when the Wraith learn of the presence of the Atlantis gate team and Beckett? Beckett and McKay are taken prisoner by the Wraith, and they demand that Carson give them a way to track and counter the Hoffan virus.
What will Carson elect to do? And what are the moral implications?
Ad things race towards the climax McKay and Carson have to work together to save the day, bu what of the final decision about the refugees? A solid episode, but not as strong as the mid-season story.
