Farscape (2003) – We’re So Screwed: Part 1 – Fetal Attraction, and Part 2 – Hot to Katratzi

The penultimate story of the series is a huge three-part tale, We’re So Screwed. Part 1 – Fetal Attraction was first broadcast on 24 February, 2003. It was written by David E. Peckinpah.

Aeryn (Claudia Black) is still being held by the Scarrans, who believe they can extract Crichton’s (Ben Browder) wormhole information from the DNA of the child Aeryn is carrying.

So that means the gang is racing a ticking clock, thirty minutes in this case, after they arrive on a Scarran controlled station. It seems the ship carrying Aeryn is about to leave.

Putting some wary trust in Scorpius (Wayne Pygram), Crichton, Chiana (Gigi Edgley) and Rygel (voiced by Jonathan Hardy) meet up with Sikozu (Raelee Hill) who has been sent ahead. They come up with a plan to quarantine the station, and ground all departing ships -will it be enough to give our heroes time to save Aeryn?

Once Noranti (Melissa Jaffer) and D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe) arrive, the gangs all here, and things are going to get big, bad and loud.

We know how things have gone in the past… Things start to go sideways very fast, as there are twists, turns, reveals, (expected) betrayals. But in the end, the group is able to get Aeryn away, but the lines are being drawn for a final confrontation between enemies. They’re going to have to rescue a captured Scorpius, because…

The ending reveals that Harvey (Scorpius’ neural implant in Crichton) is back with the reveal that Scorpius knows everything Crichton knows about Earth, wormholes! TO BE CONTINUED!!!

Black is wonderful, showing how far Aeryn has come since we first met her. And there are some fantastic character beats for all of the characters. We’ve seen lots of growth from all of them, and have truly grown to care for all of them.

We’re So Screwed: Part 2 – Hot to Katratzi was written by Carleton Eastlake and debuted the following night on 25 February, 2003!

The gang go after Scorpius who is being tortured for the wormhole information by the Scarrans. So how best to get to him, announce himself at the Katratzi station, and attends the peace negotiations being held by the Peacekeepers and Scarrans.

So that means everyone is going to be in this episode! And that’s a subtle hint about a reveal of who arrives to help in torturing Scorpius!

To guarantee their safety, Crichton walks into the room with a nuclear bomb.

There’s a lot going on, as Moya’s crew works to observe and infiltrate all of the other groups to stir things up.

I love seeing this version of Crichton and Aeryn. They are back together, their happy, and they are in the middle of danger – this is where they thrive! But they never seem to have enough time, as things, of course, escalate!

Grayza (Rebecca Riggs), Braca (David Franklin), everyone is showing up, but will Crichton be able to get the riot he needs at the moment he needs?

Crichton is offering the wormhole info to the highest bidder, but it’s all a plan; get Scorpius out, and escape while violence tears the peace talks apart.

We race to another To Be Continued when things go really sideways with a reversal by Scorpius, after his rescue, asking for his trust as Crichton is captured, and the rest are racing for escape on Moya!

Next time we dig into the final two episodes of the series.
