Farscape (2001) – Infinite Possibilities: Part 2 – Icarus Abides, and Revenging Angel

Part 2 of Infinite Possibilities first aired on 3 August, 2001. It was written by Carleton Eastlake.

With the Scarran Dreadnought drawing closer, the Ancient version of Jack (Kent McCord) and Crichton (Ben Browder)have to come up with a plan to best the dreadnought. But of course, Crichton has been taken over by Scorpius (Wayne Pygram).

Aeryn (Claudia Black) doesn’t pull the trigger, and from there, not only does the neural clone of Scorpius die, but Jack unlocks more information in Crichton’s head so they can come up with a weapon.

Aboard Talyn, Crais (Lani John Tupu), and Stark (Paul Goddard) are boarded by the Scarrans.

Everyone is preparing for the Scarrans, even Furlow (Magda Szubanski) lends a hand until she pulls a double cross. Not a surprise, but really disappointing. And that betrayal comes with blood.

With the weapon active and in Furlow’s hands, Crichton has to stop her. He does, but he gets a lethal exposure of radiation in the process, but he’s determined to fly the fake module to take out the Scarran’s.

So he has to say goodbye to Aeryn. Which coming on the heels of all their playful banter, and flirting this season is heartbreaking.

This is a great two-parter, has great character moments, and moves the series and the characters forward. The stakes are always high for Farscape, and it’s always painful to watch the characters go through heartache and loss.

But wow, what a story. And again, it just shows how much Aeryn has grown since the first season. Claudia Black is nothing short of wonderful in this entire series.

Revenging Angel was written by David Kemper, and first aired on 10 August, 2001.

Back on Moya, things erupt between D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe) and Crichton, and the human ends up in a coma. D’Argo thinks Crichton messed with something on his ship, but what if it wasn’t him?

Meanwhile, Moya is facing a crisis, because of D’Argo’s actions. So Chiana (Gigi Edgley) and Jool (Tammy Macintosh) have to help out as best they can, to help Pilot (voiced by Lani John Tupu) save the leviathan.

Meanwhile, Crichton, while in a coma, talks with his neural clone of Scorpius, who doesn’t want Crichton to die. If Crichton dies, so does Scorpius. So the neural clone tries to find a way to rouse him, and Crichton retaliates by diving into an animated world.

It’s pretty fun. And funny. It plays as the Looney Tunes version of Farscape, with Crichton as the Roadrunner/Bugs Bunny, and D’Argo as Wile E. Coyote. It’s a charming episode and in the end, shows the power of D’Argo and Crichton’s friendship.

It also reveals that Jool, though a little spoiled, is very aware of the dynamics at work aboard Moya, and is dong her best to be there for those who need it.
