When SG-1 is sidelined and O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is injured, a group of young SGC recruits will have to take action and retake Stargate Command- with some help and guidance from O’Neill.
Written by Ronald Wilkerson this episode first debuted on 8 March, 2002.
The episode opens with training exercises that re-introduces us to Lt. Hailey (Elisabeth Rosen), and the squad she is working with, Grogan (David Kopp), Satterfield (Grace Park!), and Elliot (Courtenay J. Stevens). We see their determination, and abilities, and O’Neill’s thoughts on them, but the exercises don’t go as smoothly as they want and the recruits make mistakes, but that’s only the beginning…
It seems there’s a foothold situation at the SGC, and when the rest of the team is down, the young recruits guided by O’Neill are going to face real situations instead of a simple training exercise.
Carter (Amanda Tapping) is somewhere inside the SGC, and she’s trying to get info out to O’Neill, even as Daniel (Michael Shanks) and Teal’c (Christopher Judge) seemed to have succumbed to the takeover.
Will the young team be able to make the tough decisions and stop the invasion?
Or, surprise, is it just one big exercise to see what the team is capable of, and if they are worthy of joining the SGC?
It’s a fun if familiar kind of episode, but you have to wonder about the logistics of things at the SGC to be able to organize all of this for a training exercise. What does the base schedule look like?
48 Hours introduces us to fan favorite character Rodney McKay (David Hewlett)! Written by Robert C. Cooper, the episode debuted on 15 March, 2002.
Teal’c is trapped in the gate buffer, and they have 48 hours to get him out, while making sure that no one dials in or out during that time. Carter finds herself working with Dr. McKay, and things aren’t going to be easy.
But the pair working together is going to be only one of the problems that the SGC faces in attempting to rescue Teal’c in time. There will be diplomacy and politics involved, as they need the Dial Home Device and the gate from Thor’s ship, which is in possession of the Russians – they need to reroute the teams out there, while keeping Teal’c’s pattern in the SGC buffer.
This means Maynourne (Tom MvBeath), Davis (Colin Cunningam), Simmons (John de Lancie), Colonel Chekov (Garry Chalk) and even oligarch turned Goa’uld Bill Marchant (Adrian Conrad) are all involved in the storyline.
Daniel and Davis head to Russia to work with Chekov to hammer out a deal, while Carter is introduced to McKay, who has been working at Area 51, by Simmons. Maybourne warns O’Neill about Simmons and his motivations.
There’s lots going on besides trying to save Teal’c.
