While Higgins (Perdita Weeks) starts work on the latest case, which involves the robbery of an elderly man, Gus (Lawrence Pressman) suffering from Alzheimer’s, whose daughter, Kerry (Bethany Anne Lind) now looks after him, while her brother, Brent (Jordan Belfi) doesn’t understand all the strain Kerry and her father are under.
Magnum (Jay Hernandez) is meanwhile approached by a woman to help her find her son. We are introduced to Verna (Judith Scott) who is looking for her son, and Magnum already knows him, T.C. (Stephen Hill). This could bring up a whole lot of past trauma for the chopper pilot.
Birthright was written by Andre Jackson and one of the series showrunners, Eric Guggenheim. It first debuted on 26 March, 2023.
T.C. at his friends’ urging agrees to meet his mother, if only to say all the things he’s wanted to say for years and finally get some closure on that part of his life.
Magnum and Higgins fund that, surprise, more is going on than we first thought, and that it may be an inside job, but it’s heartbreaking to see the whole thing unfold. And it’s all going to end violently for the clients, as the baddie has a connection to both brother and sister, and isn’t afraid of committing murder to get his way.
And speaking of parents, Higgins also has a discussion with Magnum about how she looked after her mother when she had Alzheimer’s, and how she handled the situation. And T.C. extends an olive branch to his mother as the episode closes out.

Dark Skies was written by Andrew Blazensky and Tera Tolentino. It had an original airdate of 2 April, 2023.
Magnum tracks down the wharf dock master, Lewis (Jeff Campanella) who disappeared after Buck Greene died, and wants to find out more about what happened. This allows Magnum and Rick (Zachary Knighton) to make some headway in the Buck Greene case, finding more people who were involved in the mission, or its development have ended up dead.
And then they use Lewis to flush out the killers, things go sideways, but they are able to grab one of the black ops team members who is intent on hunting Greene’s team down and eliminating them. But they don’t know anything, everything is compartmentalized.
Higgins and T.C. try to help an eccentric billionaire, Nolan Pierce (Eddie Jemison) from being harassed by a drone. But Nolan isn’t the target. Not only do they get to have some fun action sequences, they get to do it on horses!
Shammy (Christopher Thornton) helps Kumu (Amy Hill) out at La Mariana after there’s a theft. The pair did their own version of investigating, and it’s fun to see supporting characters getting paired up and having fun together. And then they find out why the thief did what he did, and that gives Kumu some food for thought.
There’s some fun stuff with a trivia contest at La Mariana, and the episode is pretty enjoyable, but Stephen Hill’s stunt double is very obvious on the horse.
We’re coming up on the mid-point of the final season, but there’s still lots to come as I explore more of Magnum P.I. – The Complete Series on DVD, available now from Paramount Canada. Aloha!
