Fan Expo – Day 4

And just like that it’s somehow the final day of Fan Expo 2023 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. I have to say, I loved diving into the convention this year, connecting with so many fans and having great conversations about the things we love and the things that unite us in that love.

I was on-site to prowl the South Building that day, with a quick excursion to the North for a photo op with Anson Mount and Ethan Peck from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

I was very excited to just prowl the aisles, and yes, I did succumb and pick up a lightsaber, a basic model from Xtra Life Toys & Games ( http://www.xtralifetg.com ) and I have to tell you, it was a delight when I got it home and charged it. I loved hearing and seeing the saber come to life in my hand, changing the colours, and the sounds, and just playing with it like I did with so many plastic toys when I was growing up.

My prowling brought me to an amazing booth, run by Sparetime Toys and Gifts ( http://www.sparetime.store ) – check out their pop-up location in Emperess Walk if you’re in Toronto. The craftwork, the puzzles, and the designs are simply stunning, intricate, and a wonder to behold.

I engaged in chats with a number of comic book sellers and was stunned to find that a number of the issues I have in my possession could be worth some money. Most of them are close to mint, and the buyers and sellers at the Expo are willing to chat, appraise and make sure you both get the best deal because they love the art form.

And I may not know all the characters or all the anime series that were on display or in costume around the Expo, but they tend to have fantastic collectibles and brilliant colours, and a number of the retailers had their booths reflecting that some of them gorgeously so.

This was a fantastic Expo, it pulled me back into my fandoms, allowed me to chat and interact with lovers of a number of different fandoms, and it seemed to run incredibly smoothly for everyone involved.

And I made sure to thank every member of the crew or volunteer I interacted with. My compliments to Fan Expo’s showrunners, they made sure things ran to schedule and that lines kept moving, and that people were happy.

I had a great time this year, and the whole thing revitalized my love of things geek. I loved chatting to everyone – oh by the way, if you are into your physical media, check out Unobstructed View ( http://www.unonstructedview.com ) for some exemplary editions of films on blu and 4K.

And it’s not the end of the con, unless I get a quick goodbye selfie with Artoo. Thank you Fan Expo and Touchwood PR for a fantastic event !
