Fan Expo is right around the corner, and it’s something I haven’t attended since COVID hit, but this year, I’m going back. And I am excited. There are so many people I want to see and meet, and while the SAG-AFTRA strikes may prevent some discussions I still expect to have a damn good time as for the first time in a number of years I go autograph hunting and maybe even do some photo ops.

And this year, like every year I’ve attended, and even those I haven’t, Fan Expo Canada has made sure to pack the guest list with a number of familiar faces to appeal across a number of genres.

Not only am I excited for the moments that will allow me to chat and give my thanks to artisans who have touched my life in some way, but I’m looking forward to perusing Artists’ Alley, which is always filled with a number of amazing and creative incarnations of beloved characters, films and more.

Running from Thursday to Sunday next week at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, tickets are still available, the schedule is almost ready, and the fans are ready. In fact, I can categorically say that since this is my first one in about, is it really?, four years I’m really excited about this one. I’ve even got a couple of costumes this year, well a couple of tops anyway, but I can’t wait to trot them out.

I’ll be tracking down a lot of Star Trek signatures, and am hoping to chat with a number of convention goers to see what the convention means and holds for them, and of course hoping to get a selfie with Artoo, which is a bit of a convention tradition for me.
