So, it’s my birthday.
That’s not me asking for lots of comments and well wishes on Facebook or Twitter (though they are always nice), it’s simply a statement of fact, and I thought I would take a moment to reflect on the past year.
It’s been a bit of a ride, but I think I’ve come out the other side a stronger and better person.
It’s also another anniversary for the blog! Can you believe we’ve been doing this for 3 years! WOW!
I wrote to a friend of my in an email the other day, that if he told me that when I was this age that I would be interviewing, chatting with, and calling friends people I have admired on a variety of television series, I would never have believed him. But that’s where I am. Where Sue is.
Our show has always been a little off from center, more a chance to chat with our guest person to person, get to know them a little, and laugh a lot. And this has reverberated not only with the guests, all of whom have always been eager to come back, and friendships have been established, but with our viewers as well.
Over the past three years, we’ve begun to turn into the little blog, and show that could, we’ve been given access to some amazing talent, and sets, and met some truly great people, and all of that plays against the backdrop of day-to-day life, which, as most people know, I don’t share a lot of on here, except a few big incidents every now and then.
Therefore I would be remiss to not mention that this year has seen a lot of ups and downs in my life, it’s allowed me to reconnect with friends I thought long gone, to know who I can rely on, even if it causes them pain, and vice versa. I’ve lusted and loved, been hurt, made whole, and with the help of those who have always been there for me, worked to find my footing.
I’m by no means perfect, nor completely well, but I continue to take steps forward each and every day, even if they are little ones. And whether people know it or not, the blog helps me do that. For someone, who can occasionally, be notoriously shy, or at least uncomfortable in some social environs, this, and social media, and our show, is how I interact with a lot of people.
So for everyone who has been with us from the start, for those who have joined along the way, and to anyone who just happens along every now and again, or are thinking about following us on this awesome journey, thank you! You make a present of yourself every day, and I am glad and thankful to have you all in my life, in whatever manner you fit into it.
It’s been three amazing years, with this one being the biggest (and personally most tumultous) one yet. I can’t wait to see what the next year in my life, and The Mind Reels brings.
I hope your day is as awesome as mine.
