Yet another entry on my Top 10 of All Time list is this classic, based on real life events tale about a group of women who agree to play baseball in a new national league in World War II America. I’m pretty sure the film only scratches the surface of what the women went through to establish themselves as legitimate players in a world where only professional male atheletes are valued, but with an incredibly talented cast and the amazing direction of Penny Marshall, you can’t really go wrong. The only real sadness is in the fact that the film has to end at all. I could spend even more untold hours in the company of Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, Lori Petty, Tom Hanks and all the lovely ladies that make up the league.
I can’t praise this one enough. Everyone should watch it, and then watch it again. And then share it. The girls knock it out of the park, and I never tire of hanging in their playground.
