Back in 2007, while I was living in Kingston, I heard something incredible… someone had turned one of my favorite cult series, into a musical with lots of blood…
In the space of 48 hours, I had ordered the soundtrack from Amazon, got my tickets for the Splatter Zone seating section, and bought my bus ticket.
The following week, after having played the soundtrack endlessly at home and on my ipod, I was off to see the show at the Diesel Playhouse in Toronto.
It was amazing!
Now, in 2013, Evil Dead The Musical is triumphantly returning to Toronto for a run at the Randolph Theatre, with an enlarged splatter zone!!
At the Zombie Walk on October 26, the Evil Dead gang was there to give a teaser of the show with a couple of numbers, Cabin In The Woods, All The Men In My Life Keep Getting Killed By Kandarian Demons, and Do The Necronomicon. It was a delight to see that a large portion of the undead taking over Nathan Phillips square knew the lyrics.
Despite the cold, which as we know doesn’t affect the undead but was definitely having an effect on Sue and I, we got a couple of minutes with some of the cast. Unfortuantely, the cold kept messing with my camera, so we ended up with only a couple of short clips, one of which features a fan who saw the show the night before!
So have a quick teasing look at Evil Dead The Musical with Alison Smyth, who plays Cheryl, Brianna Love and Evan Dowling, both of whom are swings and have to be ready to take on any role in the show with Evan playing Fake Shemp and and the Spirit of Knowby.
Have a look, and check out the site for tickets and show times HERE! If you haven’t seen it, check it out, and sit in the splatter zone!!!
