With the Wraith hive ships still two weeks away, the Atlantis Expedition is working on plans to fight and survive. To Be Taught, If Fortunate (2019) – Becky Chambers
The last (for now) Becky Chambers book for me to read was her first. Again, it’s too short, but it hints at the wonders to come in her Wayfarer Series and Monk and Robot books. The story follows a foursome of Earth explorers as they explore strange new worlds. Well four of them anyway. And…
Stargate SG-1 (2005) – Reckoning: Part 2, and Threads
Anubis (Rik Kiviaho) and the Replicators are posing a giant threat to Earth, and O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) as the head of Stargate Command is sending his teams out to do their thing. Reckoning: Part 2 first aired on 4 March, 2005 and was written by Damian Kindler, with excerpts written by Robert C. Cooper….
Mickey 17 (2025) – Bong Joon Ho
Bong Joon Ho the writer/director of Parasite dove into Edward Ashton’s science fiction novel, Mickey7, and brought it to the big screen. And it gives us a quirky, darkly comic, and smartly told film starring Robert Pattinson. Pattinson is Mickey. He and his ‘buddy’, Timo (Steven Yuen), need to get off of Earth, They owe…
Stargate: Atlantis (2004) – Home, and The Storm
Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie wrote Home, which debuted on 10 September, 2004. Sheppard’s (Joe Flanigan) team travel to a mist-enshrouded world, but when they dial the gate to go back to Atlantis, McKay (David Hewlett) makes the discovery that there’s enough energy in the mist field to allow them to dial home. McKay and…
Farscape (2002) – I-Yensch, You-Yensch, and Into the Lion’s Den: Part 1 – Lambs to the Slaughter
Matt Ford pens I-Yensch, You-Yensch which first aired on 21 January, 2002. Rygel (voiced by Jonathan Hardy) and D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe) go to broker a deal with Scorpius (Wayne Pygram) and Braca (David Franklin). All part of the plan to get aboard Scorpius’ command carrier, to destroy his wormhole technology. They do so with the…
Stargate SG-1 (2004) – Chimera, and Death Knell
Osiris (Anna-Louise Plowman) is haunting Daniel’s (Micheal Shanks) dreams as her former self, and his former lover, Sarah. What is Osiris up to? Does it have something to do with the Lost City? Chimera was written by Damian Kindler from a story by Robert C. Cooper. And outside of Stargate Command we see that Carter…
Stargate SG-1 (2004) – Grace, and Fallout
Carter (Amanda Tapping) has gated out to the Prometheus, still working on getting its hyperdrive fixed (it needs lots of cool downs and can only make short jumps) as it makes its long journey back to Earth. And out there, under the command of Colonel Ronson (John Novak) they come under attack by a massive…
Battlestar Galactica: Armageddon (1997) – Richard Hatch and Christopher Golden
Almost twenty years after we last saw the original Galactica fly off into the starscape with the episode The Hand of God (no one really counts Galactica 1980 as canon), series star Richard Hatch paired up with author Christopher Golden to continue the intergalactic space opera. The first of seven novels helmed by Hatch has…
The Visitor (1979) – Giulio Paradisi
The Visitor is a bizarre, so bad it comes around to be good sci-fi/horror film that is just bizarre. Its happenings are so strange, you can’t take your eyes off the screen, and like I said, it’s so bad, it’s actually good, in a really bad way. Aliens are fighting on the planet Earth. At…
