The Great Movies – 100 Years of Film continues to entertain as I continue to make my way through the 5 associated titles with The Gold Rush. This effort also directed and starring Chaplin features a rudimentary soundtrack, and is delightful fun. Even in the 30s the continuing, striving pace of technology and progress…

Nothing Left To Fear (2013) – Anthony Leonardi III
Anchor Bay sent a long Nothing To Fear for me to take a look at this week, it’s getting a lot of chatter because it is being produced by legendary rocker Slash and his production company. In the film’s special features Slash voices an opinion of horror movies that I quite agree with, the…
Murdoch Mysteries S07E02 – Tour De Murdoch
Tonight Season 7 of Murdoch Mysteries continues with this enjoyable episode, that as always entertained, made me laugh, and captivated. Inspector Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) is testing out some augmentations he’s made to his bicycle by entering a local race, that features some professional cyclists including Major Taylor (Defiance’s Dewshane Williams). Barely has the race…
Happy Birthday to The Mind Reels!!
It has been two years since our inaugral post. Even now, Sue and I look at each other, completely baffled, wondering how we got here?! We’ve seen and done some amazing things this past year, have chatted to some brilliant folks, made some incredible new friends, and have continued to pursue our love of…
Pi (1999) – Darren Aronofsky
The 101 Sci-Fi Movies brings another mess with your mind film, this time from Darren Aronofsky. Shot in a gritty black and white, subjective style, the film follows a brilliant mathematician, Max Cohen (Sean Gullette) as he becomes obsessed with tracking down the pattern of the universe. He’s convinced that the entire realm of…

The third of Nic Cage’s action trio from the late 90s makes its appearance on the 101 Action Movies list in this film directed by Simon West. Cage plays retired Ranger Cameron Po, who after his service is eager to rejoin his newly pregnant wife (Monica Potter) to raise their child together. On their…

The second episode of Whedon’s new series based in the Marvel universe, picks up where last week’s left off, as the team piles onto the Bus to investigate the 0-8-4, which no one knows what it means, as it can mean a plethora of things. In this case, it is a piece of Hydra…
The Kid (1921) – Charlie Chaplin
Great Movies 100 Years of Film is going to be an interesting book, having viewed The Gold Rush, I’m now looking at the films that came with it as recommendations. To be honest, I enjoyed The Kid much more than The Gold Rush, it’s fun, dramatic, has some great moments, and has some very…

The Fan Expo vids are coming to an end, but we’ve got this one and one more. This one features Sue at the Space booth, chatting with Bitten (based on Kelley Armstrong’s novels) cast members Steve Lund and Michael Xavier. As the chat progresses a couple of surprise guests show up! Thanks again to…
John Carpenter’s Halloween 35th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray
One of my fave John Carpenter films (see my revisit here) gets a gorgeous blu-ray treatment from Anchor Bay in time for its 35th Anniversary! With a HD transfer supervised by the film’s cinematographer Dean Cundey, who whether you know the name or not, has probably been responsible for the way some of your favorite…
