Smallville (2004) – Velocity, and Obsession

Jonathan (John Schneider) is in the hospital, recovering from his heart attack, and Pete (Sam Jones III) has gone all The Fast and The Furious with street racing.

Velocity first aired on 11 February, 2004 and was written by Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer.

Pete is getting in deep, and he’s loving his new vibe, but when things go bad and he gets into debt with some powerful people… All the cars have been tricked out with kryptonite-enhanced booster tanks. Pete was asked to throw the race, and when he doesn’t, things go really badly for him. He owes Dante (Ryan Merriman) 20K! Will Clark (Tom Welling) be able to help his friend? And will Pete suffer for it when Clark tries to play by the rules and go to the cops?

Will Clark have to put aside his morals to help his friend pay off the debt? He has a plan, but he’s not happy about what he has to do to help. Of course, there’s kryptonite around so Clark’s plan may not go off without a hitch. And in the end, what will this do to their friendship?

And Lana (Kristin Kreuk) is confronting Adam (Ian Somerhalder) about who he really is. He’s taking a serum that resembles blood platelets. And he supposedly died a couple of months ago. Not only is Lana looking into it, so is Chloe (Allison Mack) and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum).

Lex is able to talk to the doctor involved, Lia Teng (Francoise Yip) an finances her, when he has her removed from the university laboratory in which she works. Will they learn Adam’s secret? Whatever it is, it doesn’t look great.

Obsession debuted on 18 February, 2004 and was written by Holly Harold.

During a class field trip to Luthor Corp, Clark has to use his powers to save a fellow student, Alicia (Sarah Carter). She sees his powers, but she has a secret as well.

The pair are able to connect, and begin dating, but Alicia becomes a little obsessive. Obsessed and dangerous? Not a safe mix for Clark.

The relationship starts out well enough, and Clark and Alicia make a wonderful pairing. It’s too bad it goes badly. Clark can’t catch a break. And of course, if she knows all these things, her life expectancy can’t be very long, especially when she goes after Lana.

While all that’s going on, Adam is going Pacific Heights on Lana, and she’s discovered his journals that suggest he’s been watching Clark and Lana. So she asks Lex for some help. How will that work out?

But it’s not Lex that has Adam, it’s Lionel (John Glover), and it seems he was using Adam for his own purposes relating to Lana. Is Adam gone? Will he survive? Will he see him again? And what about Alicia?

Lots of threads on the floor…

A solid if familiar feeling episode, and sadly, the Lana storyline felt rushed and shoved in.
