Smallville (2004) – Delete, and Hereafter

We get a peek inside the Daily Planet as Delete opens, just to see Chloe (Allison Mack) clearing out her desk, thanks to Lionel Luthor (John Glover). And it puts her right in someone’s target sites, an we get the reveal that Chloe has a cousin when she uses her name as a nom de plume… Lois Lane.

Delete was written by Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, the episode was first broadcast on 28 January, 2004.

All of Chloe’s computers have been seized, even the one at the Torch, and they are all in the hands of LuthorCorp, being overseen by Molly (Missy Peregrym). Or maybe Molly isn’t who she says she is.

Someone is intent on keeping Chloe quiet, and they may use Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) to do it! It seems a former Summerholt patient is able to manipulate the pair. So who is it? Is it a surprise that it’s Molly? She’s using Chloe’s stolen computer, and she’s using an email to program people to go after and shut Chloe up for digging into Summerholt.

The Lana/Chloe fight is pretty intense.

Clark goes to investigate Molly and the head Summerholt doctor, Garner (Martin Cummins).

And speaking of Lana, things seem to be going well with Adam (Ian Somerhalder). Is Adam a little more than he seems?

As the episode closes out, we see that Chloe and Clark are at work on patching their friendship up, and that’s nice to see. And Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) sees that all of her computers are returned.

So it’s not quite a recent, but it puts us in a comfortable place, which seems to suggest some changes will be coming our way soon; like Lex going to Garner to help recover the memories he lost since shock therapy.

Hereafter was written by Mark Verheiden and Drew Z. Greenberg and it debuted on 4 February, 2004.

New student, Jordan Cross(Joseph Cross) has a unique ability to see how people will die when he touches them. Clark has been asked to mentor him into the school, and when he discovers Jordan’s ability wants to help him.

And what does he see when Clark touches him? A glimpse of familiar red cape, a yellow S and an unending light tunnel…

When a student goes missing after Jordan tries to save her life, Clark needs to find a way to help. And things escalate when Lana is grabbed by the same person who grabbed the other student! And it all happens because Clark saved one life. But things will work out, right?

It works out so well, that Jordan loses his gift at the end of the episode.

Meanwhile, Chloe and Pete (Sam Jones III) look into Adam after they observe some troubling behavior. I told you that was gonna happen! Poor Lana can’t catch a break. Heck, even Lex is investigating him!

So who is Adam really and how is that going to play out for Lana and the series?

And the episode ends with Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) having a heart attack!
