Seth Nelson (Kevin Zegers), who has had a crush on Lana (Kristin Kreuk) since forever, develops abilities after being struck in the head with a meteorite filled snowglobe. And those abilities, make him a little magnetic, in terms of personality (as far as Lana is concerned) and some powers. Y’know like Magneto in The X-Men.
Magnetic was written by Holly Harold and debuted on 12 November, 2003.
As Clark (Tom Welling) begins to become suspicious of Seth and his new abilities, can he convince Lana without sounding jealous. But Lana already knows about some of Seth’s powers, because, unlike Clark, Seth has told her the truth, well most of it.
This could put a real damper on the Lana/Clark friendship to say nothing of a relationship. But whn Seth convinces her to skip town with him, he steals a car, and she empties the Talon’s register. Capital T trouble for Lana. And she seems okay with it.
Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) learns that Chloe (Allison Mack) is digging into the Luthor past, especially his father, Lionel (John Glover). And this causes a clash between not only Lex, but his investigator as well, who comes to the Torch and walks with her hard drive.
She finally comes to Lex and reveals Lionel’s blackmailing of her to keep her investigating the wall of weird, and especially Clark. Lex agrees to protect Chloe, if she reveals what she’s learned about his father.
I like that Lana gets a bit of a solid story here (and some community service), and that Chloe gets some attention too. But overall, it was not my favorite episode of the season. As, in the end, it just plays out as a freak of the wek episode, no matter how much we’ve grown to care for the characters over the past two and a half seasons.

Shattered was written and directed by Kenneth Biller, and it debuted on 19 November, 2003.
Following an assassination attempt, Lex is a little shaken, and turns to Clark for aid, and somewhere to hide. But Lionel, when he hears about everything, begins to suggest that Lex is mentally ill, following his time on the island.
But has Lex snapped, or is he being manipulated and gaslit by his father?
And Lionel’s old friend, and crime boss, Morgan Edge is back. Patrick Bergin takes over the role from Rutger Hauer, through some in-story plastic surgery.
Who’s right? Is Lex crazy or is Lionel really up to something truly dastardly?
Clark also warns Chloe, in an effort to keep her safe from the same people. But the more Clark interacts with Lex, the more worried about his friend he becomes. He definitely seems to be coming apart.
And as Lex begins to suspect everyone, Lana is brutally hurt.
But there is something going on. Lex is being dosed with a drug, and it all seems to be part of a bigger plan. Is it Lionel’s or Edge’s? And let’s not forget, Edge knows Clark’s secret… and now maybe so does Lex, or will it get charted up to drugs and psychosis?
This is a great episode, with lots going on, and that ending!
