Smallville (2003) – Visitor, and Precipice

Visitor was written by Philip Levens and it debuted on 15 April, 2003.

There’s a strange young man, Cyrus (Jer Adrianne Lelliott) at Smallville High, and Clark (Tom Welling) begins to believe he may be a fellow Kryptonian. When he elicits some abilities, and confides in Clark that he believes he is an alien, that just makes things more complicated.

Is he an alien, or just an ill young man?

Lana (Kristin Kreuk) is boarding her ill horse at the Clark farm, and Cyrus is able to cure it (?). Who is he? Is Clark no longer alone? Or is he just a boy looking for attention?

Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) convinces Helen (Emmanuelle Vaugier) to move in with him, and she’s still keeping Clark’s secret. Lex also turns his attention to Cyrus, revealing to Clark that he believes someone/something came down in the meteor shower. And he also reveals to Helen he has an investigation going on into the Kents.

Cyrus shows Clark that he has built a transponder, but needs Clark’s help in reclaiming the transmitter. Is this all legit? Is Cyrus going home? Maybe if the bullies don’t get in the way.

But what is the truth? Is he just an orphan like Chloe (Allison Mack) believes? how does he know so much about where Krypton is? They may never know. He has to save the life of one of his bullies, which leaves him comatose. But Clark thinks Cyrus may have seen the ship come down and the trauma of his loss planted it in him, and may have gained his powers from meteor rocks.

And how is Martha’s (Annette O’Toole) pregnancy going? Can she trust Helen Bryce to look after her? Jonathan (John Schneider) doesn’t think so.

It’s got a poignant ending, but honestly, not as good as it could have been.

Precipice first aired on 22 April, 2003. It was written by Clint Carpenter.

When Clark helps Lana deal with some drunken customers at the Talon, he may have overdone it, and the coffee shop, Lana and Clark all run afoul of the new sheriff, Nancy Adams (Camille Mitchell).

Clark finds himself doing community service, and sued for personal injury. That can’t be good for the Kent family.

Lex, meanwhile, checks in with Lana, and advises some self-defense. Clark won’t be there all the time to help and save her.

And Helen has a problem when an old boyfriend, Paul (Anson Mount!), he’s in Smallville and seems to be following her everywhere. He even goes so far as to injure himself, a bloody gash across his head, and saying Lex did it. Paul is a full-out psycho!

So what will Lex do? How far will Paul go? And will Clark be able to help either Lana or Lex? Or will they save themselves? And will Clark be able to keep the farm out of hock if the Kents get sued?

Happily, the moron suing Clark is faking, and Lex is able to stop Paul, and Lana is able to kick some ass, but everyone seems to have problems with the new sheriff in town.

Trouble all around in Smallville in this episode. And no doubt, more to come.
