Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004) – Episode 2

This is it. The final ninety minutes of Farscape. Is it all going to pay off? Am I going to be happy with how it all ends?

Airing on 18 October, 2004, the night after the first part, making it a two night event. Part two of The Peacekeeper Wars was written by series creator Rockne S. O’Bannon and David Kemper.

D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe) and Chiana (Gigi Edgley) are rescued by Luxans led by D’Argo’s estranged son, Jothee (Nathaniel Dean). From there the story kicks into high gear as our heroes strive to find peace in the galaxy.

Crichton (Ben Browder) and Aeryn (Claudia Black) are determined that their child not be born into conflict. And they are going to put themselves into danger because of it.

Of course, things are complicated by the fact that Rygel (voiced by Jonathan Hardy) is carrying their child, and it needs to be transferred (in the middle of a fire fight). And Sikozu (Raelee Hill) and the Luxan commandos help them escape from the Scarrans after the talks go sideways.

Everything is ramping up. It’s gonna be a buckle up and hold on ending.

And Scorpius (Wayne Pygram) and Sikozu… you know they have their own plan when it comes to Crichton and wormhole weapons. Can either of them be trusted?

And everyone on Moya is shocked when Crichton takes his module, and leaves through a wormhole… to see the alien he calls Einstein (John Bach) in hopes of unlocking all the wormhole information in his head. All to get peace.

But can any of the forged alliances be trusted. And you know Scorpius is planning to get and use it for himself.

There are fantastic character moments, payoffs, and emotional payoffs all overseen by director Brian Henson. Everything races to a final stand as the Scarrans are determined to reshape the universe in their own image, and subjugate or destroy everyone else.

Everyone is going to get their moment to shine, but will they all make it out alive? And what about the baby? Everything is going to go sideways, and happen all at once… as it always does.

Aeryn goes into labour in the middle of a last stand firefight! Things don’t let up at all. Everything keeps escalating. Right up to and including a wormhole weapon…

Marriage, births, deaths, friends, enemies, it’s not going to be an easy ride, but it’s going to be a wild one, a frellin’ fantastic run, and it’s going to be all Farscape!

This is a great way to end off the series. It ends the narratives we’ve been following, and lets the characters go off, to continue living their lives, and adventures, as parents and families.

What a fantastic end.
