Stargate SG-1 (2005) – Citizen Joe, and Reckoning: Part 1

Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson, guest stars in Citizen Joe. Written by Damian Kindler from a story by Robert C. Cooper this episode debuted on 18 February, 2025.

It’s a unique kind of clip show, with excerpts featuring the writing of Cooper, James Crocker, Peter DeLuise, Jonathan Glassner, Victoria James, Kindler, Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie, and Brad Wright.

Castellaneta is Joe Spencer, and he shows up at O’Neill’s (Richard Dean Anderson) knowing who he is, and blaming O’Neill for ruining his life. It seems that at a garage sale, Joe stumbled across an ancient device. When he touches it he sees the adventures of SG-1 as they happen.

As he relates the tales to his friends and family, they have all sorts of questions about continuity, characters, and details. It’s a little meta as they discuss stories, relationships, and what people like and hate about the stories. And what about the Furlings?

He believes, initially that they are just stories, but begins to suspect that they are actually happening, and contacts the Air Force to reach O’Neill. He also tries writing the stories and sending them off to get published, and is shocked by the reveal of Wormhole X-Treme.

It begins to ruin his work and home life, and his obsession begins to drive everyone away.

The flashbacks take us through season after season, reminding viewers of arcs, characters, politics, and doing it in a fun way.

There are some fun things going on here, and it definitely is a really joyous way to do a clip show. And it’s like an obsessed super-fan meeting his favorite cast. It’s smart, funny and a great little breather before we start the race towards the season finale!

Reckoning: Part 1 sees things escalating again, Ba’al (Cliff Simon) is cementing his control among the remaining Goa’uld system lords. It seems countless of them are falling to the Replicators, led by Repli-Carter (Amanda Tapping).

Written by Kindler and directed by DeLuise, this episode was first broadcast on 25 February, 2005.

After a long absence, Jacob (Carmen Argenziano) contacts O’Neill and Stargate Command with the reveal that the Replicators’ presence in the galaxy is growing.

Teal’c (Christopher Judge) and Bra’tac (Tony Amendola) are being aided by Carter and Daniel (Michael Shanks) in a galaxy-wide assault by the free Jaffa on the Goa’uld, but things are going to go badly for all involved. As they come under attack, Daniel is beamed away by the Replicators, which will lead to his brutal questioning by Repli-Carter.

The Replicators are here. And Jacob warns that they could sweep through the galaxy in a couple of weeks.

Will Earth and its allies be able to resist? Oma (Mel Harris) and Thor (voiced by Michael Shanks) make appearances, as do a restored Anubis (Dean Aylesworth and Rik Kiviaho).

Thor and Carter are working together to come up with a weapon to stop the Replicators, and things are going to get pretty desperate pretty quickly. Teal’c comes up with a brilliant, but risky plan to bring the Goa’uld down once and for all, and Ba’al makes overture for an alliance between Earth and the Goa’uld to fight their mutual enemy.

The episode ends with the reveals that the Oma talking to Daniel isn’t Oma, there is a weapon that can stop the Replicators, and surprise, O’Neill! Anubis is back.

Oh, and look, there’s Isaac Hayes!!
