Farscape (2001) – Scratch ‘n Sniff, and Infinite Possibilities Part 1: Daedalus Demands

Crichton (Ben Browder) and D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe) have pissed Pilot (voiced by Lani John Tupu) off, so he as banished them, along with Jool (Tammy Macintosh) and Chiana (Gigi Edgley). They are on enforced vacation, and it’s going to be a wild ride, as they get drunk, and rolled.

Lots of laughs in this one, as D’Argo and Crichton try to recall their steps, who screwed them over, and maybe, put their ongoing bickering behind them.

Scratch ‘n Sniff was written by Lily Taylor, it first aired on 20 July, 2001.

Waking up in a window, the pair find themselves having to deal with an annoying little alien, Raxil (Francesca Butler, Browder’s wife making another appearance). She has news that Chi and Jool are in trouble, and they’ll have to work together.

All of this is told to Pilot by Crichton, who just wants to come nack aboard Moya. It’s filled with great moments, hilarious music cues, great aliens, and lots of funny moments.

What they find is a weird drug trade. A drug culled from living beings, until they die. And Chi and Jool are next.

But is Raxil playing them for her own ends?

Pilot refuses to believe any of Crichton’s story, and sends he and D’Argo off for another eight days. Becasue they really need a break from the pair of them.

This one is just fun. It doesn’t move the overall mythology forward, but does reveal to D’Argo that Scorpius (Wayne Pygram) still exists inside Crichton’s mind.

It’s definitely an enjoyable ride, which of course means that it’s a deep breath before something horrible happens.

Infinitie Possibilities Part 1: Daedalus Demands was written by Carleton Eastlake, and it debuted on 27 July, 2001.

There is so much continuity in this one that of course, it’s going to take two episodes to get through it all. We’re back on Talyn for this story, and Crichton is sensing that the Ancients, who have put a lot of wormhole information in his head, are looking for him.

Is he right? When a wormhole opens right in front of Crichton he’s proven right. The Ancient he knows in the form of his father (Kent McCord) appears and is angry that Cricthon may have revealed too much.

The alien shows Crichton a vision of what looks like his module, with a wormhole stabilizer, travelling through a wormhole, and an alien Crichton doesn’t recognize is piloting it.

The Scorpius in Crichton’s mind wants him to keep quiet, but also gives him suggestions of who built the module… remember Furlow (Magda Szubanski)? Rygel (voiced by Jonathan Hardy) recognizes the alien pilot, and they aren’t the nice kind.

So off they go to see Furlow. Only to find her planet completely leveled by solar flares. Going to investigate, they find themselves under fire.

Crais (Lani John Tupu) and Talyn are blinded by the flares and escape with Stark (Paul Goddard). Crichton and Aeryn (Claudia Black) find Furlow. She was captured by the aliens who have the module. She had hired them for security, and then they betrayed her. And Rygel? He engages his inner warrior, and proves to be a pretty good sniper.

But is it too late to put the wormhole rabbit back in the hat? And what about the Scarran Dreadnought on the way?

Crichton tells the Ancient about the neural chip as they work to destroy all the information and tech before the Scarran’s arrive. And the Ancient thinks he can remove Scorpius from Crichton’s mind.

Hearing this Scorpius seizes control of Crichton and is on the verge of killing Aeryn as we race towards a To Be Continued!!!

Buckle up, cause the continuity is coming hard and fast now!
