Farscape (2000) – Liars, Guns and Money: Part 3 (Plan B), and Die Me, Dichotomy

The plan has changed. As Moya slowly begins to recover from burning out the living ingots, D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe) realizes what Crichton (Ben Browder) has done! He’s given himself up to Scorpius (Wayne Pygram) to allow he and his friends to go free, including D’Argo’s son, Jothee (Matthew Nelson).

With their hired guns, Aeryn (Claudia Black) and the rest come up with Plan B to save their friend John Crichton and break into the Shadow Depository again. They may even get some help from Moya’s offspring Talyn and Crais (Lani John Tupu) – but what will the cost of that be?

The penultimate episode of the second season, and the final episode in the Liars, Guns and Money trilogy was written by Justin Monjo and first aired on 18 December, 2000.

There’s a lot going on in this episode, the continuity is amped to eleven, and Crichton is seemingly at Scorpius’ mercy. The neural clone inside him and the one in the real world are both pushing Crichton to the breaking point, but what if the chip can be taken out of his head without killing him.

The episode is an all-out firefight, and the emotional stakes have never been higher, with revelations, betrayals and Crichton’s continued descent into madness.

Our heroes are able to escape though there is a cost, but what does all this mean for Aeryn? for Crichton?

In a heartbreaking moment at the episode’s conclusion, Crichton asks D’Argo to kill him. It’s horrifying to see what has happened to him. Can he be saved?

Die Me, Dichotomy closes out the season on 19 December, 2000. It was written by David Kemper.

With the wealth they’ve stolen from the depository, the crew head to a remote ice world to meet with Diagnosan Tocot (Thomas Holesgrove). Hopefully they can buy a crew for Moya’s burns, and restore Crichton to some semblance of sanity, and perhaps remove the neural chip.

The chip seems to have taken over Crichton completely, he’s striking out at his crew and friends, but Scorpius is slowly taking control.

When Tocot scans Crichton the reveal is horrifying and comes with the news that there is no cure.

And it looks like D’Argo and Chiana’s (Gigi Edgely) relationship may be on its way out because D’Argo wants to take it to the next level. He wants to marry her, so she freaks out, and is close to starting a thing with Jothee. That’s going to be a rough reveal for D’Argo.

As the episode races to its conclusion, Scorpius’ neural chip takes over Crichton, and reaches out to Scorpius, even as Aeryn pursues him in her prowler. And he causes her to eject! As Crichton – momentarily restored – watches, she dies in front of him, drowning in ice lake.

Heartbroken, Crichton goes under the knife even as Aeryn is tucked away among Tocot’s reserves of bodies. And everyone is left wondering where their futures are going to take them, and who will be traveling with whom.

But there’s more to come, Scorpius, Braca (David Franklin) and the peacekeepers arrive, and Crichton may lose more of himself as the chip is removed and find himself, once again, in the hands of his mortal enemy.

And that leads us right into a To Be Continued! Damn what a way to end out the season.
