Stargate Command is stunned when they are contacted by Jonas Quinn’s (Corin Nemec) people the Kelowans. They are seeking aid, and are offering naquadria in exchange. O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is less than thrilled with the idea considering how some of the planet chose to paint Daniel (Michael Shanks) as a traitor.
Things take an unexpected turn, however, when one of Jonas Quinn’s former professors, Doctor Kieran (Dean Stockwell!!) reveals that there may be a coup in the making. A resistance that wishes to unite the planet and oust the warring governments.
Written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, Shadow Play debuted on 26 July, 2002.
The government wants the SGC to help them with technology, including weaponry, something they aren’t willing to do. They are willing to offer medical aid, but not technology that could be used for warfare.
Kieran works behind the scenes with SG-1, but when First Minister Valis (Joel Swetow) approaches Jonas Quinn and suggests that Kieran may be ‘confused’ and ill. He wants Jonas to keep an eye on Kieran and dangles a full pardon in front of him.
So what’s really happening here?
Kieran reveals he’s been smuggling out naquadria to the resistance even as his allies are arrested and disappearing. And someone is using an image of Jonas Quinn to convince Kieran to lead them all to the resistance. Or is Kieran ill due to exposure to naquadria?
Can the Kelowan government be trusted at all?
It all ends up being an eye-opening journey for Jonas Quinn, and helps wrap up the narratives that tie the character to the Kelowans, firmly entrenching the character in SG1.

The Other Guys was written by Damian Kindler and was first broadcast on 2 August, 2002.
It has two wonderful guest stars, John Billingsley and Patrick McKenna!
SG-1 is assigned to watch over a pair of scientists, Felger (McKenna) and Coombs (Billingsley). While on babysitting duty, the team find themselves going up against a Goa’uld named Khonsu (Adam J. Harrington) and end up being captured.
Ignoring O’Neill’s orders to escape back through the stargate, Felger, who has a bit of hero-worship going where SG-1 is concerned, works with Coombs to stage a rescue attempt.
But it’s all a ploy. Khonsu is actually Tok’ra and is working to pass on information to the SGC. So Felger and Coombs’ rescue attempt gets to be pretty annoying to the team. But perhaps they’ll find a way to help out before the episode comes to a close.
It’s fun and entertaining, and the pairing of McKenna and Billingsley is a lot of fun to watch. This one is filled with action and laughs and works very well. It also shows that not all teams and missions are SG-1 material.
And I love the Trek references! Not the least of which is Billingsley.
