Stargate SG-1 (2002) – Summit, and Last Stand

The Tok’ra come to Stargate Command with news of a Goa’uld summit, it seems a number of system lords, including Ba’al (Cliff Simon) Zipacna (Kevin Durand), Kali (Suleka Mathew), and Osiris (Anna-Louise Plowman) are getting together. And the Tok’ra have a plan to take them out.

Written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, this episode debuted on 22 March, 2022.

Lt. Elliot (Courtenay J. Stevens) gets his first assignment, and Daniel (Micheal Shanks) is going in, undercover, as the slave attendant to Yu (Vince Crestejo). But he doesn’t know Osiris is going to be there! The Tok’ra including Jacob (Carmen Argenziano) outfit him as well as they can, with a poison genetically targeted to kill Goa’uld symbiote.

While Daniel goes off on his solo mission, the rest of SG-1 find themselves under attack at the new Tok’ra base.

Things escalate, racing quickly towards a To Be Continued as SG-1 and the Tok’ra find themselves in serious trouble, and Osiris recognizes Daniel. And to save his life, Elliot is taken over by a Tok’ra Goa’uld, the one that was in Martouf (JR Bourne).

There’s lots going on in this episode, and the script handles it all really well, but of course, it’s going to have to be spread over two episodes. SG-1 and Elliot are trapped underground, Sarah/Osiris i confronting Daniel, and everything seems to be going wrong for the good guys.

So how’s it all going to play out, we’ll have to wait for the next episode, even as the Goa’uld prepare to overrun the Tok’ra base.

Last Stand aired the following week on 29 Match, 2022. The conclusion was written by Robert C. Cooper.

Daniel is able to hit Osiris with the same drug that is disguising him from Yu. Jacob reminds him that he has a mission to complete, but now, Daniel isn’t sure about releasing the poison as it won’t only kill the Goa’uld, but there hosts as well, and that means Sarah.

There is also talk of the return of a much more powerful system lord lurking in the wings, Anubis.

Using Tok’ra tech, O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), Carter (Amanda Tapping), Teal’c (Christopher Judge) and Elliot find their way to the surface, and are able to contact Jacob. He’s still working on wrangling Osiris, and hopefully save Sarah, but Goa’uld politics may be turning against Daniel quickly.

Happily, Daniel and Jacob are able to make their escape, and head to rescue the rest of SG-1, but at what cost – Elliot sacrifices himself – the plan didn’t work, and how big of a threat is Anubis going to be?

It shows that SG-1 isn’t always go to win, and that when things go badly, things go really badly.

It’s rough and it works very well. How are things going to play out next time?
