Following an important funeral, Travell (Marie Stillin) of the Tollan suggests that they may be reconsidering sharing their technology with Earth. But when Narim (Garwin Sanford) passes on a warning of imminent danger to Carter (Amanda Tapping), SG-1 begins to suspect that there is something more going on.
Written by Ronald Wilkerson, Between Two Fires first aired on 24 August, 2001.
While O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) and Daniel (Michael Shanks) negotiate with Travell, with a big honkin’ spacegun up for grabs, Carter and Teal’c (Christopher Judge)meet with Narim to conduct an investigation.
Narim is alarmed when he learns about the possible deal to share technology, and he insists that there is more going on, including murder. And those behind it may be the highest-ranking officials of the Tollan government.
Narim troubled by the treasonous behaviour of his government, and though reluctant, helps SG-1. Discovering horrible truths about the Tollan leadership and their conflict with the Goa’uld, and the obsolescence of their technology to defend themselves.
And what are the Tollan using the trinium that SG-1 has supplied them for? A weapon of mass destruction, and Travell seems to be working with Tanith (Peter Wingfield)!
It seems to be spared, the ruling party of the Tollan have agreed to develop weapons for the Goa’uld. Weapons that could be used to destroy Earth.
As Narim works to save SG-1 and save his planet, the Goa’uld attack… and this may be the last time that we see Narim or any of the Tollan.

2001 is a follow-up to last season’s 2010. Written by one of the showrunners, Brad Wright, it first aired on 31 August, 2001.
SG-1 returns from a successful meeting with a species known as the Aschen. Unfortunately, they are all unaware that this is the advanced race that they warned themselves about with a cryptic note sent from the future in the episode 2010.
Are the things we saw in that episode inevitable? Or will the team find a way to figure out the threat the Aschen pose?
Events seem to start down the 2010 road, even introducing Carter to Ambassador Faxon (Christopher Cousins) who became her husband in the future timeline. Kinsey (Ronny Cox) also seems still intent on making his run for president.
Teal’c and Daniel make a discovery beneath the surface of the planet the Aschen are currently ‘helping.’ Hammond (Don S. Davis) sends out teams to investigate worlds that may or may not be the Aschen homeworld, as suspicions about the future note and current events begin to escalate.
O’Neill has a bad feeling about everything, and Daniel finds info that the Aschen are a threat. Can they stop their contact and interactions with the Aschen completely? It all comes down to Carter joining Faxon on a mission.
This effectively wraps up the Aschen storyline, but they are still out there…
