The fifth season of Stargate SG-1 got underway on 29 June, 2001 with Enemies. Written by Robert C. Cooper from a story by Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie and one of the series creators, Brad Wright, this episode picks up where the season four cliffhanger left us…
… in a galaxy far, far away.
SG-1 with their stolen mothership is far from home, and Apophis’ (Peter Williams) own mothership is with them. Aboard Apophis’ ship, Teal’c (Christopher Judge) has been captured and brainwashed back into serving as the Goa’uld’s first prime.
O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), Carter (Amanda Tapping), Daniel (Michael Shanks) and Jacob (Carmen Argenziano) have to find a way home. Can they stop Apophis? Rescue Teal’c? What’s going to happen next?!
It’s going to be interesting, because no sooner do both ships arrive, than Apophis’ ship is attacked by an unknown craft. While SG-1 try to effect repairs, and find a way to restore their hyperdrive, Apophis ship is overrun by Replicators!
Teal’c it seems escaped, but it’s all a ruse for Apophis and Teal’c to seize SG-1’s ship. Oh, the betrayal!
Trapped, the team tries to reach out to Teal’c, but it’s no good. And the problems get bigger and bigger, as it seems there are Replicators on this ship as well!
They come up with a plan! Get out on the cargo ship, and somehow get Teal’c to come with. But how will they get home? Well, the Replicator may be of some unintentional help in that regard.
This one is an all-out adventure, and the story kicks into high gear from the off. Apophis is finally taken care of, but the Replicators may now have a foothold in our galaxy!
But Teal’c?

Threshold was written by Wright and debuted on 6 July, 2001. It was directed by Peter DeLuise.
SG-1 is back at Stargate Command, and are hoping to restore Teal’c. He claims he is fine, but Bra’tac (Tony Amendola) knows he is deceiving all of them. And it’s going to take a lot to get their friend back.
Bra’tac removes Teal’c’s symbiote and forces him through a ritual to remember who he is. It causes Yeal’c to undergo flashbacks that fill out Teal’c’s backstory. We see his training with Brat’ac, his conflict in serving Apophis and the beliefs held by his people.
By forcing him to remember his journey, it may restore him to who he is. Teal’c survives the dangerous ritual, and he returns to his place on SG-1. There’s some great moments between Bra’tac and Teal’c and it fills out both characters wonderfully. The climax inserts a moment into the pilot episode, Children of the Gods, and it sets up Teal’c’s character as the warrior we know, and need him to be.
It’s a solid start to the season, let’s see where it goes. I
